TCM/TCMHD & CNNHD added to Bell TV line up

Just noticed TCM/TCMHD & CNNHD have been added to the Bell TV line up. TCM/TCMHD are in free preview until March 1st. After that it's anybody's guess which package they will be a part of since the Bell TV web site still doesn't have any info about them. They'll probably throw them in with the Premium Movies though as they did with AMC/AMCHD.

TCM - 292
TCMHD - 1283
CNNHD - 1578

I assume CNNHD will be available to those who subscribe to the SD version in the short term but I can see them adding HistoryHD and possibly something else and creating a new News & Learning HD theme pack.

FROM BELL:

"I would like to inform you that if you add the News and
Learning 1 theme pack to your Bell TV account then you can get the free
CNN HD. You do not need to add the HD theme pack to get it."

With the risk of being stoned I think TCMHD & CNNHD are a redundant waste of HD space to allow Bell to brag their biggest.
I do like the movies on TCM and I'm sure they will give my PVR a workout for the next few months.

I disagree. I think most of the SD channels are a waste of space.
More HD - less SD.

I thought CNN-HD looked really good when I found it last night. It is a huge
difference over CH 500 on a plasma HDTV.

For those of you that were getting TCMHD but not CNNHD, were you able able to get CNNHD to show up? I got back from vacation and when I powered everyting up I could see I was getting TCMHD but not CNNHD. I performed a check switch but still nothing. Any thoughts? Did people have to call Bell to get the channel added? For what it's worth I do subscribe to the News & Learning SD pack with CNN in it.

Thanks

As a huge TCM fan for many years now, I am elated that we can get it up here and "Un-Canadianized" like they did with HBO.This will be welcome relief from that god awful SilverScreenClassics and their low grade offerings.

Hope they don't overcompress after the freevu period, it's looking good now.

Great way to bring in the new year (btw I just discovered this so it's news to me).

Happy 2010 everyone !

I agree, I turned on CNNHD for a few minutes of Larry King last night and what a difference compared to the SD channel. That being said though, the quality on the other HD channels has sure suffered. CTV Calgary doesn't look much better then the SD channel most times and TSNHD was full or artifacts and macroblocking during the hockey game last night. TCMHD I agree is a waste, mostly black and white movies, that sure doesn't make the color on my plasma pop.

My guess is that they will treat it the same as AMC and put it in premium movie package.

Your probably right but I would opt to pay $5 for SD package that includes CNN, History, BBC World News, CNBC, CNN HLN, Animal Planet, Discovery, than pay $5 for a HD package that includes CNN HD and History HD. There is no advantage to watching a channel like CNN in HD.

Same issue here: TCMHD but no CNNHD. And yes I too do get the regular SD version on channel 500. I was thinking though that it's because I'm on a really old grandfathered package.
