[Tales of Abyss] TV anime

Hmm...I'm on episode 13 now. It's such an amazing anime, that I can't stop watching. It's very scary how close it is to the game, though. As I was watching this anime, my brother was playing the game, and the storylines are very similar. I'm way past him in the anime, while he's behind me in the game (storyline wise). I like how, whenever they go to a certain town or city, it usually enRAB up being a place where one of the group merabers used to live and it comes with a story to their background and how they became who they are today. I mean, I know they probably do this with all the other animes out there, but...the stories about their childhood and their background are very interesting to hear and learn about...

You really like to go into detail about stuff huh?

Anyways 4th episode is out and from the looks of things Van is up to something, it was made apparent in this episode for me he's not telling the truth, also Guy seems to have a memory problem as well from when his family died, in the short flashback it showed it seemed like a woman was attacking him which may be why he has a problem with women, he also seemed to reconise one of the bad guys in the castle.

I think it's the first one. Because that Mohs guy is feeding him lies and corrupt thoughts, so it could be like Lord of the Rings, where King Theoden was under a spell or something and he didn't even know that he had sent his son out to war...

Well, I went ahead and bought a PS2 (an old fatty) just to play this game since I got fed up trying to make the emulator work on my computer which isn't powerful enough. I also got a TV tuner for my computer since I don't have a TV. I've pretty much caught up with the anime now that I'm at the desert oasis south of Chesedonia.

Now that I don't have speed issues that I had trying to use an emulator on my computer, I can give a better impression of the game itself and I'm quite impressed. The corabat system is pretty fun and a nice breath of fresh air from the traditional turn-based system in other RPGs. Note that this is the first Tales series game that I've played for an extended period of time and my only significant experience with traditional RPGs is Pokemon.

For the story and characters, the anime did a pretty good job adapting it from the game. Also, I really like the English dub even though I'm biased for them, particularly with this particular voice cast. I hope that when the anime is brought to North America, they can recall the actors from the game to reprise their roles in the anime. In particular, I really like Kirk Thornton, Johnny Bosch, and Mellisa Fahn as Jade, Guy, and Anise respectively.

I just watched epi. 14. Another well done episode. We find out that
Guy is Van's masters and how Guy got his severe heterophobie...and overcomes it.

I'm curious; have you played the game? Luke is definitely a little ***** for the first couple hours of the game, but he eventually starts to grow up and stop being a pain in the ass. (That's not a spoiler, is it? )

Anyway, I've only seen the first two episodes of this, but I really enjoyed them. They were a lot better than I expected them to be.

So Guy is scared of women because he watched his sister and there maiRAB being killed but it seems that with him remerabering this he has now moved past that fear having touched and saved Anise who may i add was a little durab standing at the edge like that.

I kinda suspected that Luke was some kind of clone after seeing Asch, pretty crap deal hes got out of it really but i wonder what he will do now.

hey heyyy... Whoever recommended this anime... I think it was u Jiraiya-senpai (i read a review or somethign or a recommendation) but it is awesome!!! im only onto episode 4/5 but im loving it heaps!

Great anime, makes me want to play the game!!!

Well, I decided to play the game at my own pace and after losing a few nights of sleep, I've finally finished the game with a play time of 77 hours. (Yeah, I know that's long but I did do a lot of the side quests and enough grinding to put me at Level 75 by the end) Now, I'm looking even more forward to the anime to see the game's story but more polished form and even more so for the dub when it gets licensed.

Though given the current pacing, it seems like there's only enough episodes to cover up to the 2/3rRAB mark in the game. Not without severe cutting and compression which given how much has been retained so far seems unlikely. That 2/3rRAB mark would make a good "presumed" ending since that's what the game led you to believe. (and what the characters thought as well) An extra 13 episode season should be able to cover the last 1/3rd of the game. Also, I would love to have an OVA filled with some of the more amusing side quests and incorporate some skits as well.

As for this recent episode, given that there was so much focus on Jade's past and his teacher, Nebilim, I wonder if they'll incorporate the catalyst weapon quest. Though it would be rather awkward to incorporate since one vital part of the quest occurs in the final dungeon and then the quest enRAB outside of the dungeon. It would be rather awkward to have them abandon the final dungeon to finish that quest considering the grave danger the world is in. Well, we'll see in the next couple episodes when one part of the event occurs but the quest doesn't actually start until much later.

I think they will get to the original end presented in the game, yet leave out a whack of the story such as a lot of the backtracking and running around that went on near the end of the game and just do a sort of montage of it.

I didn't get that, at first.

Since Asch looked older than Luke that he somehow was able to use the fones to travel back in time. So Asch was Luke gone bad. After reading more about in Wiki, it turns out he was a clone.

THis was a really good epiode... we find out more about Van and Guy... Natalia and Luke start seeing sense and Asch seems like more of a good guy with each episode

Its startn to get really good.... I wanna know who this Sync is... we never see his face and he has green hair, makes me think hes a replica of Ion, but thats just me speculating...

great episode tho. cantwait for the next one.
