T5 Screen Squeal

Hey everyone

I know this issue has been mentioned on T|E and Z|72 Palm units, but I've also come across it on my T5. When looking at the screen I hear this high pitched 'squeal.' I thought I'd get used to it, but...haha...nope, not happening. Look at the unit from the side or back and you hear nothing.

I really really really do not want to send this back to PalmOne...their service is terrible and I have a feeling it'd just pop up again. (After my hard case randomly broke, it took over a month to get a replacement. The wierd thing is, I never sent my old one back in and they sent me TWO new cases. Wierd, eh? :D )

Anyway, I saw a tutorial on the T|E squeal, but I don't know if I'm ready to open up my T5's case. I'm one of those people who can't afford to just go buy a new one if I break something beyond repair. My guess is that it has something to do with the harmonics of the screen and the processor conflicting, but I really am not sure.

Any fixes that don't require 'plastic surgery'?

Thanks. I'm going crazy.

My T5 isn't making any noise of that caliper. I'd say it's time to RMA it to P1 although it sounds as if that's not a real good choice in your instance.

My T5 is as quiet as I want it to be...I like it like that, hey have you gotten yours to quit screaming yet? Hope so....too bad it can't be like the Tin man in the Wizard of Oz and you could take an oil can to it...

mhamann,

My T3 also has the same noise. I guess its something to do with the processor and the digitizer. I wont agree with opening your T5 up; its far too risky and precious. BUt I think its what makes my palm alive. It makes me tick. ;)
