t4

Could you tell us a little more about what's in this thing rather than downloading a blind attachment?

Just a hint will do . . . but I cancelled the download. Thanks.

Interesting pictures and specs, with features that the T3 lack. Could just be a prototype though (by the lack of labels on the buttons). Recent pictures of the T5 look more real, plus PalmOne's inadvertent admission of the T5 (as posted in yesterday's forum) somehow shows T4 had been bypassed.

I hope they come out with this T4 model though. I like my T3 very much, and the additional features (wi-fi and additional SD/MMC slot) will make it a perfect PDA.

These pics show the T4 with Mobile Mail and so they are not of a US release since PalmOne has migrated to Versamail in the last releases here.

And to have the exact same foot print as the T3....I don't buy it. Also, I don't see any status lights for either BT or WiFi even though the WiFi is listed next to the T4 logo.

Gawd, I love speculation though. ;)

EDIT: Not to be ungrateful but I'm also suspect of someone's first post that includes pics of a prototype.

1src is reporting that J&R Music is showing new accessories for the T5 and Treo 650.

Watch the web because the release will be soon - either tomorrow the 21st or the 28th my guess.

I noticed the Status Bar looks the same as the T3, including the landscape button. I hope this is the real thing as we have all worried about the landscape mode being removed from Cobalt.

check out the latest on 1src....it will look like a TE and will NOT have built in wifi it seems...some dobts about this particular 'leak' but I suspect it is probably close to the truth this time!!

I know everyone else besides me is foaming at the mouth about this damn WIFI, but if the newest incarnation is in fact a high-RAM permanent landscape "TE" like a stretched T3 with no slider, the first one down to the store will be ME . . . for a spare OS5 unit. If SOS is correct, that's actually GOOD NEWS as far as I'm concerned since it gives some of us "one last crack" at a whiz-bang OS5 unit that will still run our software(s).

In fact, landscape be damned . . . I rarely use it anyway . . . even 320x320 with 128MB and OS5 would be MORE than sufficient. I'm maintaining that 60 apps that WORK beats OS6 and WiFi.

I know this "whiffy" is real important to some of you . . . and Godspeed getting what YOU want and deserve. But frankly I'm gonna throw up if I here it one more time and here's why:

If I start going into convulsions at Starbucks because I have to be on the web with my white mocha breve, I'll buy a Vaio or a Powerbook . . . or a WiFi Card. We're talking about more than "WiFi or not" here . . . the WiFi cards are now out for the T3 for heaven's sake (THANKS for the post, OLDBLUE!!!) . . . doesn't anyone care about LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY with respect to every other single thing you're using a PDA for?

Bill Gates said "without software a PC is a box that lights up." Never more true than now, folks. Long live DA's and the software we've all paid dearly for. Would be nice if we could use 'em. PalmOne's sheer neglect for truth in a marketplace in which they KNOW people are "attentive and anxious" is another reason they're going to eventually LOSE. PPC owners already HAVE their answer.

Just my 2 cents.

As long as it has built-in wifi and a stylus I'll be happy.

Just kidding PTL! :D

Seriously though, PalmOne really needs to set a goal of building a better PDA than some of Sony's discontinued models.

Sony has included a fairly decent camera in almost all their PDA's for a while now. I'd love to see a PalmOne unit with the form factor of the TH55 but with a faster processor, a decent voice recorder and a camera.

I never dreamed I'd find so many uses for the camera. We have some rental properties and the camera has saved me a LOT of time. It is so easy to put a measuring tape over a pipe, take a picture, go the the plumbing supply co. and get exactly what I need. I've taken pictures of broken windows, faucets, cans of paint, even an air conditioner pan. It is true that a picture is worth a thousand words.

PalmOne's offerings with a camera are horrible. Come on P1, give us a better PDA than what has already been discontinued!

:end of rant:

We are all damn.
We all want specifics that will suit us the way we use our PDAs.
Unluckily having a 800mhz machine that has bluewire/wifi 2gb hard drive of memory and a battery that lasts 12 hours and of course the size of a credit card wont happen in the next couple of years.
People use it as a "PDA", others use it as an entertainment system
Movies, music, Internet, games. This last group is where Palm gets most of the money from now a day. It has always been individuals and not corporations that bought the Palm. It?s not a RIM, it?s not a phone.
God knows where Palm is heading.
I use it for both, But I admit........ I love watching movies on it.
LOL!
If wi-fi was installed in trains and subway systems, I would never disconnect myself.... SAD LIFE! The art of conversation would be lost.
