Lyrically they've changed their style.
Instrumentally they tried some new stuff.
The new vocals dont sound as good by Serj.
Never really liked daron anyway, except for his amazing performance in Sugar.
Attack- Great. Lyrically and vocally, it has a very new, energetic feel. Similar to BYOB but without the random screams, and Serj is a little more understandable (not insulting BYOB, it wasnt a favorite, but it wasnt horrid) I think it was Hypnotize's "Question!"
Dreaming- Lyrically the same style as Attack, but its more of a crazy mix between Forest and SOAD opera. Its definately a favorite as well.
Kill Rock 'n' Roll- Not much to say. It's catchy, but it lost me with the lyric
"Mowed down the sexy people"
Hypnotize- Of course this was wonderful. Great lyrics. Great instrumentals, beautiful blend of Soldier Side (intro) instrumentals and harder SOAD material.
Stealing Society- Had high hopes until Daron's part. After that is feels like a terrible rough draft of "This Cocaine Makes Me..."
Tentative- If you liked Sad Statue, here you go. Its a different look, but the same meaning and feel. Great song, and they made it original enough so it doesnt feel at all like a clone.
U-Fig- Not terrible. A little too repetitive but I'm sure the first few times you won't care.
Holy Mountains- ATWA without the loud chorus.
Vicinity of Obscenity- "Violent Pornography" after you've had too much "This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song" Didn't like it much.. although Serj saying "Banana" is rather addictive.
She's Like Heroin- Seriously? This song is stupid. Whatever message they were trying to convey out of this went horribly wrong.
Lonely Day- Its alright. Its cliche. Its depressed. It shows no sign of hope. I believe its the story of the man who did "Lost In Hollywood" after you've left him to rot. Still, a little too cliche for my tastes.
Soldier Side- Heavier, not as catchy, and involves an outside person (unless you take it as an internal struggle of course) but still great. EnRAB with the Intro from mez.
And that is my opinion on the CD. Oh, and the winner is Hypnotize out of songs on the CD, for me at least.
