True true i was playing devils advocate a bit. the british wallander i expect them to speak in a foreign language and wait for subtitles - how weird is that lol.
Me too Parthena. IMO the two Wallander series I've seen on UK tv have not without faults by any means but there has been some superlative photography, directing and acting and the way the Kurt/Katarina relationship was treated in final episode was heart-wrenching. Krister Henriksson has to be applauded for making such a truely great character - certainly flawed but ultimately a good and humane man.
I have just watched "Lewis" and it is soooo bad in comparison. You know a show is in trouble when the director resorts to slidey camera angles and silly unbelievable characters, and I doubt that I've seen a more unconvincing house fire; with a bit of luck they won't make any more.
At the start of the episode we had the nice and reliable Isabelle, by the middle of the episode we had the mixed martial arts and drug smuggling Rebecka and by the end of the episode we were back to the nice and reliable Isabelle.
Maybe it would have been better if throughout the series there was hints to the audience about Isabelle's past instead of it being hoisted upon us in a single episode last night. I can now understand why Krister doesn't want to do anymore episodes of 'Wallander'.
It was good to see the relationship between Kritstina and Kurt be developed further, this time because of the actions of Kristina's daughter.
I really liked the last scene, it was a shame to see Pontus and Isabelle leave as they've been such an integral part of the series, some would argue too much so. I always saw Pontus and Isabelle as a younger version of Kurt and Kristina.
Think I could be looking for some of those too, both series in fact.
I decided to take careful note of how many episodes have explosions in them................my guess is 25/26 episodes, don't think the choir episode had one (could be wrong tho) personally I would have paid someone to blow up the choir
I think last nights episode could be my favourite...........probably because it was the first one I ever saw.............but I do love Goran
This series will suffer from the absence of the interaction between Kurt and his daughter and be the lesser for it.
It's still better than having Branagh constantly "in your face" and over-acting.
At least Svartman got a fair bit of screen time this week. Mind you he's probably busy running a book each week on which one out of Pontus and Isabelle will get shot and in which part of their body. He's most likely made a fair few krona out of that
Saturday just won't be the same. My OH and I usually spend Sat when doing chores etc, just longing for 9 pm!
One good thing about it is it'll be going on for longer!
Practically everything she said in that last scene just twisted my insides..it was as if she was foretelling the future. Such a lovely girl and a very promising actress too.
Is it true that Krister Henriksson will not play Wallander again? So no Series 3, or not with the same cast at any rate? He is brilliant as Kurt, and therefore a shame. The whole series is superbly shot, and well acted all around!
