Swedish Wallander Series 2

The new series has grown on me - it took a while for it to do so, though it'll never be the same without Linda and Stefan.

Does anyone know the name of the song which plays at the end of the programme?
 
I've come to this late and am really enjoying this second series. However, having missed all the repeats of the first series which people have mentioned do you think there is any chance they'll repeat this again in the near future?
 
This last episode was much like how earlier episodes of Wallander used to be before it turned into 'The Adventures of Pontus and Isabelle' for most of this series.

The plot was very simplistic but that didn't matter as it was very character driven, particularly from Kurt and Kristina's perspective. I found it strange how the criminals were yet again of Yugoslavian origin, it's kind of giving people the impression that most of the serious crime in Sweden is commited by second and third generation Yugoslavs. I doubt this is true but who knows.

I noticed how some of the OP's were saying how there are always loaRAB of car bombs in Wallander, well for some reason there are lots of car bombs in Sweden, there is at least 1 every week somewhere in the country, it's quite common, but they are mostly minor.

The best parts of the episode were Jussi limping out of the doctors office with his right leg in plaster, good to see he pulled through as it would have been criminal if they had killed off Jussi and the last scene with the aerial shot of the Swedish countryside on a winters morning with the train speeding off into the distance. Brilliant. (I really have to go to Sweden one of these days, beautiful country :))

Fantastic series which I just happened to stumble across a couple of months ago when I was channel surfing. I really hope the BBC repeat both series 1 and 2 as I haven't seen any of series 1 and I missed the first couple of episodes of series 2. I also hope they buy the rights to some other foreign drama series, the ratings for Wallanders prove that there it quite a sizeable audience for foreign language programming in this country.

What am I going to watch on Saturdays now? :(
 
He's very decisive and can be authoritative at times, ordering everyone around (Nyberg! Svartmann!) and so on and you are quite right, he did not seem to convey that sense when he spoke in English. It also seems to me that there is more that is unsaid in Swedish than in English. It seems more clipped and terse, more economical and you get more by observing manner and tone (which is one of the things that makes watching Wallander so interesting, what's unsaid is often as interesting as what's said).
 
Oh I do hope so but then Krister Henriksson has said he will not make any more and I just can't imagine anyone else as that character now.At present I would be happy with repeats of both series. I missed series 1 and am really hoping the BBC show it once more.

In the case of Isabelle you are obviously correct as she is one serious babe !

Having only started to watch in this series I have to say I am enjoying it, obviously without having previous series to compare it to but I have yet to work out how Svartman seems oblivious to the fact that they all seem to take the mickey out of him. Mind you, he does seem to be incredibly incompetent
 
I agree, Twister's Twin - it really is an excellent, absorbing drama and I wish there were more made like that in the UK - it truly is a television gem. I've never seen the BBC1 Wallander remake so I don't know how the English and Swedish versions compare - would I be disappointed?

I've just seen the episode from Saturday. What an amazing programme. So terribly sad and gripping at the same time.

Quite brilliant acting from Johanna Sollstrom , made even more poignant after what happened to her. Such a wonderfully attractive and talented actress.
 
I'm not sure 'disappointed' would be the right word TU, it's a little darker and Kurt is more depressed, less jokes, but it's ok, it's just that the Swedish version is so good it puts all other programmes in the dark:)

Pontus Asp-Hoijer shouldn't really complain about Isabelle changing her name:D
 
Let me see if I can explain things bit better...... Jeremy Brett was the quintesential Sherlock Holmes but that doesn't stop me enjoying other versions of the character, the situation is similar with the Swedish and British Wallanders
 
Excellent that the programme won a very well deserved award on the Crime Thrillers last week, maybe it will make Mr Henriksson change his mind about not makng any more.
 
I agree. By speaking English so well Kurt showed he was both courteous and superior in a way as he could speak English. In fact I just loved the way he pronounced the worRAB ... definitely :cool:
 
Bazza Norman devotes an entire page in the new Radio Times to praising the Swedish Wallander whilst sneaking in a few digs at Kenny B
