Swedish Wallander Series 2

True enough about the final series. Thank goodness they are pensioning off Frost and Barnaby when they are only about fifteen years over the normal retirement age. Jack Warner made his last episode of Dixon aged 80, but I am not sure whether in that series he was actually retired from the force.

I was thinking of the black and white days of live shows with Andy Crawford and Laudie Lauderdale.

I do not think that if Andy or Laudie had been shot one week they would have been up and about as if nothing had happened the next.

The style of camerawork looks really different than previous episodes, the photography is a lot more filmic and sharper.

I've never known a single series to fluctuate so much with the style of the show as much as this series of 'Wallander'. Compared to the first few episodes it seems like a completely different show now.

Ah, thank you, Verence. I was intrigued by the names being the same and now we know!! i'm totally in love with Swedish films now...

Although I saw KBs version 1st and I like it well enough, the Swedish version just seems to flow better for me, the interaction between characters is much easier and KH cracks jokes:D

I'm happy that Wallander.se is back but suffice to say I'm not remembering the names of some of the new characters. The ambience has changed

You might be right but....

I don't know, they could have been up and about quite quickly as there was never any "bullet holes or blood" when someone got shot, was there?

Where is everyone? Didn't you record it and watch it during the night like I did because you needed cheering up after the football fiasco even though it was more or less what you'd expected?

Of course Wallander didn't cheer me up, but it certainly distracted me  I can't say another word because I don't know how to do spoilers :D

Not a great final ep I thought. Clunky plot and terrible acting from that kid scuppered it as did the overuse of car bombs (the second looked like it went a bit wrong with the dog actually being too close). And you could tell Zoltan was a wrong

yes good ole Jussi (really a she... called Grace). a dog trainer was brought in for last episode to teach her to alert Kurt to the 'problem with his car'.

the performances were better than the plot allowed

Agreed :) Taggart went downhill when it was reduced from two hours to one :( Not that it was quite in the same class as Wallander, but it was better class than most other stuff at the time.

.. glad it's the first series being repeated as I missed the first half dozen episodes. The ones that I saw were certainly better than the 2nd series :D !!

I have just remembered that George Dixon was shot and killed in the film The Blue Lamp (no blood of course) but miraculously resurrected for the TV series.
