Maybe the part about how the bees are dying because of increased pesticide usage...

Well, the medicine will kill you, too.

I've always thought the biggest reason to push organic over conventional was to be good stewards of the Earth, not necessarily for higher nutrition content.

Don't you guys always slam me for creating thread titles you don't like, even though the article title is more specific?

There's a reason why the 100m world record is called the dirtiest record in sports.

Carl Lewis (who was also suspected as having failed drug tests which were tossed out....the USADA did random screening where a large portion of our athletes failed in the 80's....but the test was just to see if the olympic athletes had a problem and would be caught....I think it was prior to the 84 games)....
edit: link http://www.ocregister.com/articles/usoc-testing-athletes-2515888-positive-drug
anyways he took the 100m wr in 9.92 back in 1988 because Ben Johnson tested positive when he ran 9.79.
Maurice Greene ran 9.79 in 1999...which at the time was considered legit.
Tim Montgomery ran 9.78 and then tested positive in 2002
Justin Gatlin ran 9.77 but tested positive a few times in 2006

Which brings us to the current crop of sub 9.8 100m sprinters.
Usain Bolt
Asafa Powell
Tyson Gay

Now if people are getting busted for taking steroids and only running 9.79. Usain Bolt at 9.58 should turn some heads. Of the 7 runners under 9.8....3 tested positive in the past and 3 are current runners who had training partners test positive for PEDs.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Organic farming produces the same yields of corn and soybeans as does conventional farming, but uses 30 percent less energy, less water and no pesticides, a review of a 22-year farming trial study concludes.

The research compared soil fungi activity, crop yields, energy efficiency, costs, organic matter changes over time, nitrogen accumulation and nitrate leaching across organic and conventional agricultural systems.

"First and foremost, we found that corn and soybean yields were the same across the three systems," said Pimentel, who noted that although organic corn yields were about one-third lower during the first four years of the study, over time the organic systems produced higher yields, especially under drought conditions. The reason was that wind and water erosion degraded the soil on the conventional farm while the soil on the organic farms steadily improved in organic matter, moisture, microbial activity and other soil quality indicators.

Enough about sports though....Lance slipped by. But I doubt him or any other person in pro-cycling is clean.

In that case millions of years of mammalian evolution make a strong case against cooking meat. Enjoy.

It's actually been suggested that this is true. People have taken to treating some diseases with hookworm.

We are talking about studies with very limited scope and practically no controls.

Not to mention, they were only looking for antioxidant levels over the course of a few weeks.

If you are a going to release a study based on other studies, then at least pick good ones or ones that are even reputable.

If you are using more land to grow less food that sells for a premium then it stands to reason that the prices on the food that is left over (non-organic) would go up as well.

Don't get me wrong.

I will not sit here and act like farmers should be told - or God forbid - legislated what crops to grow, what crops not to grow and how to do it.

On the contrary, if a farmer wants to chime in and say, 'Hey before organic farming I made 'X' amount a year and now that I have gone organic I am making double that!'. I am gonna congratulate him on his business sense.

What I will NOT sit for is these assholes that act like they are superior because they eat organic.
I mean, fuck you.

What you are really saying is that you are superior because you can AFFORD to eat organic.

What you are really saying is fuck the poor people.

For me that is what the organic label boils down to.

It boils down to the rich getting superior food and the poor getting inferior food.

I had to read what he wrote a few times. I couldn't figure out what he was saying.
