Suggest replacement for LG-DM110

Simplistic: Yes; simplistic, it runs the simple Verizon UI which is on most current non-PDA Verizon phones.

Compact: No; Very bulky and heavy. Not pocket friendly.
 
The trouble is that the walkie talkie and the phone both don't work right now. Verizon wasn't any better. The Sprint option seems viable, but the phone choice is not so great.
 
I'd give the LG VX8300 a try. Nearly everyone likes that phone- good reception, good battery life, good durability, excellent speakerphone. Not glitzy or over-the-top on features, just a good all-around phone.

And its not real big either, unlike the G'Zone or Moto E815.
 
I understand what you're saying, but i am just saying to consider that Sprint is a PCS network (a very good one here for the most part), and the rule of law is that PCS just does not reach like 800MHz does, so take that into consideration before you go to an ic model.

basically, just make sure everywhere you need to use the phone has native sprint service.
 
Most places I've tried so far do. The only question mark would be in Vermont, but not a heck of a lot is up there anyhow. Besides, that is only for a few ski trips per season, and others I go with have Verizon, plus I'd rather not use the phone while on "vacation" anyhow. (-:
 
The reception is nowhere near a Moto. There are several within the company and all just look at me like im talking to myself inside the ice rink in the back because the 8300 does not get enough signal to hold onto a phone call.

they are all amazed that i can still call out and talk just fine. after i talked to the account manager and had her take the moto around, she got herself a moto, and is planning on switching everyone over soon.
 
I had the 710 and thought it was one of the biggest pieces of ****** i've ever used.......

Power to ya if you're into that phone, but I had more phone breakage issues with Motorola than I have with any other phone I've owned.....

I have the 8300 and with few exceptions on locations that I have had problem, I think it's one of the best phones I've ever had.
 
yet again, the RF on LG is HORRIBLE when compared to a moto.. and the new moto's (as my comment in another thread) has came up tremendously in the last few years. After having the moto phones of three years ago, i was thinking of never owning one again, but the new phones (e815, v3m, and k1m) all have been great, granted the build on the v3m and k1m are much, much better, and the k1m has the best implementation of vzw software that i know of (although i hear that the w385 is the best to date)

i would really give moto another look because they've been in the radio business for over 50 years, so i'd say that they do know a little about what they're doing.
 
a phone that is over 5 years old and you are complaining about RF. I got one in 01 that still works fine but cant be activated because it doesnt have the chip. it doesnt have the signal strength it used to but hey ,I dont either
the v111( verizons version of the 110) now that was a different story
unfortunately there is no such thing as a simple phone on Verizon anymore. the coupe is about as close as it gets.
some like the Juke for its simplicity and compactness but it looks, basically, like a pack of gum when closed and Ive not read a lot of great things about its RF

what's wrong with the Juke? That is one of my favorite phones.
It may not be up there with the E815, V710, enV, and the other great RF phones, but it is no slouch either. It has good in/out audio quality, decent enough RF, and just works great as a phone. Granted, if you want anything more than a phone then I would not recommend it. Sure, it has an mp3 player and a cool 2gb storage, but I can't bring myself to listen to mp3's over a sub-par player, nor recommend one to someone else - and so far every cell phone I've tried has a seriously sub-par player. And I'm not talking about features, though they are surely lacking, I'm talking about audio quality.
 
A lot of people never have had any reception issues with LG phones and have had good signal quality. Although certainly some VZW Motorola phones seem to have very good reception when compared to some other ones, it's probably not quite true to say that the reception is just horrible and aplly that to LG phones in general.
 
depends on the carrier, what carriers are you looking into? still leaning more towards sprint?

if so, then look at the lx160 or s1.. it looks like they also have a Samsung a580 as well that looks really nice.

im all sprint again with my old Q up and going and happier than ever, i do not think that i will mess with Nextel again.
