Suggest replacement for LG-DM110

uum, yea.. especially since i can still pick up my original v60 from the same period and it still pulls in as strong as it did from day one, also my old samsung phones from the time do just as good as they did then.

We just need to get over the whole LG fan thing and realize their transmitters are not as strong as some other phones, or maybe it's the antenna designs. i have no idea, but they def need to get a few things together.

i still have a few places i cannot use an LG phone due to Verizon's faith in "the network" considering the tower is a little over 8mi away, the only phones that work there are Motorola and a few Samsung models.

Look, if you wanna be a Moto fanatic, great. Just as soon as they do a (much) better job of quality-controlling their phones and software than they have in the past, I'll be right there with ya.

Samsung is my favorite brand of cell phone because Ive always had best results with its reception.
I am NOT an LG fan. they just suck less than the new generation Motos
 
The software is Verizon's problem, flash to the original UI and the phone(s) run fine. Their QC could use some work but all the Moto's I've had have gotten better RF than any LG or Samsung that has been released.
 
the OP wants a simple, small and durable phone. thats why I suggested the Juke. my friends that have one dont rave about its reception but dont complain too loud either
this guy has been looking for about a year now and the Juke is the closest thing Ive seen yet. thats why I suggested it
 
Yeah, I'm still searching. I have a Nextel ic502 through work which is big and heavy.

What is RF phone?

Again, for Humpa, I don't want the extras, meaning radio or camera.

I just want a phone. I want a GOOD one, with GOOD RECEPTION. I want a SOLID one which doesn't break easily. Compact is better.

Again, nothing is comparable yet to the original from my first post.

WHY CAN'T THEY FOCUS ON A BASIC PHONE?
 
Because basic phones don't make them any money. You'd be better served by stopping your quixotic crusade, swallowing what I'm assuming is pride, and buying a LG-VX8350 or 5400 or something.

The UI was originally developed on the LGs and Samsungs which is why it runs so much better on them. What is on the Motorola phones is a sloppy port which is overlaid on the existing UI; however, the Verizon interface seems to be becoming more and more integrated into the phones (i.e. W385 and the maxx) and runs much better than it used to. I'm not sure if you're trying to say that it's a hardware issue but did you ever wonder why Nokia stopped producing phones for Verizon?
 
RF stands for Radio Frequency - that's just technical jargon for reception, more or less.

But I agree a bit with flextech. So I say to just go and get a Juke if you want a nice small phone - I used mine for about 6 months. Never had a drop, never couldn't make or receive a call. Never had one complaint. Battery lasted days on end. Etc ....
 
I've had several LG's (including the 8300 that everyone claims is so great), and i know places that the LG's still wont work to this day (even the 9900) that my k1m works just fine.

I also think it says a lot when i talked the account manager for our company into switching to motorola because of the RF, because she was the biggest LG fan boy there ever was. After she took my moto around for a day, and did not drop one call and could call out in every square inch of that building where the LG phones would not work, she switched in a heartbeat.



the only time that i've had an issue was when i used the VZW ui on the phones, if i load for say, an Alltel or Telus flash with the actual moto software the phone performs great, and even has better features like full bluetooth and java on the telus version.
 
Yep. I do want to give Moto another chance, but every time it seems like I'm about to, another friend of mine has a Moto crap out on them. They've just burned too many friends and family of mine for me to really trust them anymore.


That's what I hear from most people who have one too.

Likely the 8300 will be my next phone, the track record overall on it is good (its been out 14 months), user reviews have been overwhelmingly positive as well.

Its gonna be either that or the 8350, looks like...
 
I will say that the 8300 does have above average reception for an LG, and mine still working after taking a swim says that it has great build quality, but my only issue is the RF in really weak places. And since Verizon recently removed Sprint from the PRL from roaming here i have to worry about that now, and in that regard i am going to stay with moto for that.
 
The newer gen motos are not bad until verizon hacks them up with their software. every moto i've had with stock firmware/software has ran flawlessly for years, until vzw decided on their crap UI, then they went to hell on the vzw side. my e815 is still the best phone for RF that i have ever used, i wish i had not have sold it.

Everyone i have encountered with that phone still has it from three years ago and refuse to get rid of it until it totally dies because the reception is so good on it, and i can attest to how good it is.
 
the Juke has no camera and , like my family does on their music player capable phones, they just dont use that feature.
I really believe the Juke is going to be your best bet with Verizon
regardless of whose fault it is ,the VZW/Moto combo is not what it used to be. we can dream about how great our 815s were but the fact is, they dont make them anymore and the upgrades just dont do as well
I put up with $4 a gallon gas because I have to drive to work. walking/bike riding/alternate transportation is not an option. I have an 8 month old whom I pick up from the baby sitter each day 10 miles from my job and home. once she gets over a year old maybe, but not now. do I deserve to have to pay that much because I have an infant ? am I validating our idiotic Congressional leadership by putting fuel in my tank? no and by you ignoring a music player and camera on a needed cell phone are not doing anything other than whats needed also. time has moved on from the days of the simple calls only cell phone. deal with it. sorry to be so blunt but facts are facts whether we like it or not.
I wish they were not made in a communist country ,for the most part, but it is what it is
 
Which makes me wonder why they don't take the compact technology they have with the Razor and Katana, and just "ruggedize" them, basically giving you a phone which is still smaller than most.

The only rugged AND small phones I know of:

Motorola V325i
Motorola W315
Motorola W385

All have a rubberized finish and strong hinges, and don't include any bells or whistles. My personal choice would be the V325i as it really is as good as you can get for a functional phone.
