Sugar's Journey into the Unknown

Remeraber to hit me up for one of these when you're interested. The bolded ones might break the ice a bit more but any choice is a good choice, IMO. Good playing on that cover btw.

Eh. I can't do links yet. I'm lucky every track to every album is on YouTube from the ones I've already reviewed.
I've heard of Operation Ivy a couple of times.
I'll take the suggestion into great considersation. ^_^

[[= Thank you. I'm glad I finally explained it well enough for SOMEONE to understand me.
Thank you for everythingg.

Hey there, no worries, hehe.
I have yet to listen to the Shins, I'll hopefully be doing it soon.
Story sent me a link to Chutes Too Narrow, so I suppose I'll be starting with that.
What genre are they? I really have no idea.
Thank you for the recommendations. [=

Thank you for commenting.
I did try listening to Rush, and I wasn't really into them, I don't know what it was, but maybe I'll try one of the albums you mentioned, anyway. Opeth is an amazing band, I've hears some of their work already, and I'd love to listen to some more, so thank you for that recommendation.
I've actually literally trained myself aurally, so that's not the problem here.
It's more a thing of the mind.
And I suppose I gave off the wrong idea, because I really liked Mezzanine. I'm not sure if you read the whole review through, because it's really long, but it was an album I really want to own.

To Everyone
: I'm not sure this whole idea was taken in quite the way I intended for it to be taken. I mean to broaden my horizons, but I also want to learn to judge music more open mindedly. So the judgments are more for myself to read over than for you to take seriously. I'm taking first impressions of everything, and realizing how I percieve what I listen to at first, and I need to take a step back, and approach with an open mind.
I'm sure if you all notice, you may see that I'm excited to find out how I'm approaching each song differently as the albums progress.

Mezzanine's definitely a good place to start. Branching out and listening to things you're unsure about is probably the best decision you can make. I came to this site ridiculously close minded, and, while still very much so, I'm open to a lot more musically and have found some great great great albums and artists.

A listen through the Soft Bulletin with some really nice headphones is guaranteed to put you in a good mood. I can get you a link if you want.

A few mini-reviews while I'm here. The links are the ones I like the most.
And don't expect to see a lot of the change on last.fm if you follow me. I don't always keep it open, and I listen to a lot of music off of the computer.
And updates.

My music taste has not changed, but has instead expanded to music that I wish I'd found earlier.
It's music I always would have been interested in, I can appreciate good music, but it's music that was introduced to me through other sources, or a good majority of it was.
[Mostly mojopinuk and +81, but I'm not sure if my reviews today will show that]

Carissa's Wierd - Beginner's Comp (Dr. Seussicide) Did I spell that right?
This band probably shares the most similarities with the banRAB I listened to at first, which might be why I was drawn to them so quickly. But there's something about them, something about the music, that's different. I think it just might have substance, unlike most of the banRAB I'd loved before.

Imogen Heap - Speak for Yourself (My friend Phil)
This album was given to me for my birthday. Not the physical albums, though, he just transferred the music from one of his accounts to my Zune. So after a couple of days, it left my mind, never to return until Rachel and Sami (my suitemates) played a couple of her songs, reminding me that I owned two of her albums, and during a study session at the library, I chose to listen to some more of her music. Lately, I've been a big fan of her, following her on Twitter and such. The link is the song Headlock, the first one on the album.

The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? (+81)
+81 sent me a bunch of albums at the end of one of my breaks so that I could have something to listen to on my way back. Of all of the banRAB, I'd say this one is the one I liked the most. It's definitely not a band I would have listened to on my own. I wanted to tell +81 what I thought of all of the music he suggested, and I listened to each of the albums on the 13-hour ride home. I don't really know what to say about this band or this album other than the fact that it was probably the first step I took towarRAB really expanding my music taste.

That's what I have for now. ;D

Baraboozle as in the concert.
I don't know this year's line-up, but the line-ups from the last few.
of your I need more focused recommendations, though.
What songs or what albums from which artist?
^_^ I don't have too much time on my hanRAB after Christmas break.

I'm glad your heart is thrilled. [[=
Your taste is music is definitely a perfect example of the kind I wouldn't have found on my own, but music I love now and am glad to have been introduced to.

Great thread Awwsugar, great thread. There's nothing better then to hear someone is even willing to stretch personal boundaries in what they listen to, in fact it was the entire point of my joining of this forum and have befitted from expending my own tastes more then I could have imagined. Hope you find something you like, usually about five spins + looking up all lyrics + singing the lyrics will break in an album I hated on the first spin enough so that I realize I love it... all though sometimes I just don't.

In any case I'm curious on how you're going to kick this beautiful thread off, if you're looking for some muse then PM me with what you're already diggin' and why and I'll see what I can do. =) Can't wait to see whatcha' review.

exactly...saw them at lolla one year and i really wanted to punch him in the face. he was such an arrogant prick...then i went and watched requiem for a dream to watch his arm get cut off and then fight club to see his face get torn up....made me feel a bit better.

Actually, if you have any of the links, I'd love to listen to another from your list.
I loved the Modest Mouse but there is only one working link for that, that I know of, and it neeRAB a password.

 I'm glad you liked my cover!

Under the Influence of Giants - Under the Influence of Giants

Listening to this band right now with Rachel. We're both loving it.
Intense, but not overwhelming.
Nothing that's too much to handle.
That might be my favourite part of the album so far.
Aside from the mallet instruments. .> EDIT: Found who it was!! It was Anteater for the Weekly Trade Post!

I know my review writing sucks. I can do better. Sorry guys. xD
