Subs or Dubs?!?

i like subs becuase since im studying nihonggo i want to hear how they talk and how words are being pronounced.

also i like their voices, so cool hahaha

Are people just saying subs because they that's what they feel or are they just saying that because the subs are japanese and if they don't they'll feel they are betraying japan?

As I said before I strongly dislike subs, half the time they are either speaking too low or talking really loud, and it's soooo overly dramatic and sometimes the soundtracks are bleh.

I am sorry the american Dragonball Z soundtrack pwns the original
although I love Cha la head cha la, DBZ is action cartoon and the american dub (funi) hits the nail on the head with the music, it gets your adrenaline pumping and it makes the fights more exciting.
The english VA is much more convincing, Goku's slowness is much more entertaining

There's a couple anime where the dub is better than the original. But aside from the DBZ comments the rest of your post makes little sense. I watch nearly all my anime subbed and I have not experienced any of the bad things you described. In the end it's just personal preference. What you call overly dramatic, another might call perfect characterization.

The main reason I watch subs is because the entire creation is Japanese, thus having the original Japanese cast the way the director chose is what they meant it to be like. Watching a dub is not betraying Japan, but it still is not what the creators intended it to be like.
I tend to stick as close to the original as possible. Many things like typical character traits might get lost in a dub.

I don't mind people watching dubs, but you can expect hardcore fans to attack you. And they have a good reason.

It has nothing to do with Japan or worshipping it, I think you misunderstood my post. I like to experience something the way it was intended to be experienced.

On top of that, in my country it's generally frowned upon to watch anything dubbed when you're an adult. Only childrens shows are dubbed. We're a small country so in school we learn three languages by default. It's only natural to accept different languages because of this.

To me it sounds like you're attacking people who want to watch subs because they like Japan. You're frowning upon it and complaining about it. It's the same as Aeon's situation. It seems hypocritical to me.

Please realise that American isn't the "right way" for English speakers. If they wish to masturbate to the concept of hearing Japanese VAs instead of Americans then who are you to judge? I could just as easily judge you for prefering those dirty yank accents. (Yes, I don't like American Accents)

Again, I prefer subs, for the reason in brackets in the line above, and also the same reason as Aeons and because I've grown up with subtitles on TV and in video games. I also happen to like the Japanese accent, similar to how I like several other world accents. And to be fair, I enjoy the Japanese stereotypes more than the US ones, mostly because I havn't spent so long with them that I'm already bored of them.

Finally, I admit some dubs don't suck. But like I said, watching them isn't very enjoyable due to the accents.

I'm not trying to judge anyone
I'm just saying.

I don't care what people do, I just don't think people should
scold people (the way 90% of anime fans do) for prefering dubs.
This isnt targeting AeonsLegend or you, but alot of wacked out anime fans jump down your throat like "WTF? How can u like dubbed anime? ur just being lazy"

But anyways, I prefer dubs for the same reasons you prefer subs
I watched anime in english all my life, I got used to it, it's more easy on the ears imo.

You don't have to explain to me why you watch dubs. Just as long as you don't dismiss subs without having actually seen them. I can understand that many non English speakers have a harder time reading English than listening to it. I can also understand that a lot of English speakers prefer hearing their own language.

Still that's not the point for me when I decided that I wanted to watch subs over dubs. My English is on par with most native English speakers, so reading it doesn't bother me.

People shouldn't mindlessly attack others for their personal preference, but like I said. Anime is something that a lot of people put effort into to create it. Wanting to see that creation the way it was intended will always be something that Anime fans in general hold dear. To them a dub is like looking at the mona lisa with a baseball cap on.

I understand your frustration, but you on the other hand do not even try to understand why they might be thinking that way. All you did was draw unfounded conclusions.

So that gives them the right to trash on people who don't like Subs? Good to know
They can feel how they want, but they don't have to be dicks about it and this case alot of people are. That's what frustrates me, people chew my head off for not saying the characters names with the japanese accent.

Where are you drawing these conclusions from? What's wrong with you! I said nothing of the sort. You're just venting your frustration without proper foundation.

You're just going to have to accept that you're a minority and live with it. Move on girl.

Depends, I think the Japanese dubs for FMA {Full Metal Alchemist} wasn't that well done. Same with like Ai Yori Aoshi, I think the Japanese dub version beat the other versions by a distance.

This is a thread?

This is SERIOUSLY a thread?

People that like dubs must also like going to movies at the theater made by people with no experience in the film making business.

It depends. I prefer subs for the most parts but Gundam SEED is an exception. In my opinion the English casts sounded much better than the Japanese VA. On top of that even though its dubbed the translations were done pretty well and they even kept the profanities.
