Subs or Dubs?!?

This thread needs to die... its one of the longest running threads about something that will never be solved.

P.S. Sub votes creamed the Dub votes...

I agree with all on the subject that this thread needs to die, soon.

But in the way that I usually do, I'm going to live up to my reputation as an ironic, hypocracy loving a**hole that I am.

Often I find that subtitles are better for keeping to quality of anime in a contstant flow. But for some reason any shows that appear on commercial television must dubb it. I do not know why. So my belief that Americanising anime shows is not a good idea is probably a supported one when I say that: 1) their accents suck 2) They miss out words because of "viewer descression" and 3) They purge the show of any true autheticism.

To bring up the point of non-understandable Japanese phrases. Sometimes on proffesionally subbed shows they will give a surtitle (top of the screen) definition of it, and if that doesn't work I'm sure that you can find the time to look it up online.

Sorry about that...

Oh, they're quite sensitive. I had a field day with the Anime Outside Japan topic (which was the reason I signed up in that sh1tty forum).

What do they force you to watch subbed anime by tying you to a chair and cellotaping your eyes open.

Yes I'm joking. Thankyou for being one of those people to make a constructive argument rather than one of them who votes in the poll and yells at everyone else.

"Watching" Inuyasha on TV -- it's actually nice to not be looking at the screen all the time -- and instead listening to it... while typing away...

I like both subs and dubs. I get something different out of each one. I cheated and watched Metropolis with the sub turned on but with the English language overdub. It was fun to see how the spoken translation was different from the written translation.

I find that the dubs usually differ too much from the original Japanese texts. In other words, not translated correctly. It's probably done to make sure that mouth movements and such match with the voices. I don't have any examples, but I've watched many Anime's and also checked a little of the dub and found that sometimes the dub is completely wrong.

I was thinking about the dubs and subs and realised maybe im better off just watching subs, 70% of the anime i'v seen has been dubbed, love hina i'v only seen in sub and its was by far one of the best series i'v seen so funny!... last nite i tryed watching it in english.... wtf?? it wasnt funny at all. if i seen that in english first i wouldnt have even watched 3 eps.. I think i'll be watching more subs from now on
