Stone Temple Pilots or Pearl Jam

Its really funny how anyone can think a grunge-turned-alternative group like Pearl Jam is actually superior to...well, anyone, because they really aren't. Assertions like that merely reinforce the notion that you people don't listen to enough different things to know what the hell you're talking about anyway. :laughing:
 
Pearl Jam, by far. But, they should have stopped after 2 albums. Ten and vs. are both excellent. Elderly Woman behind The Counter In A Small Town is maybe my favorite PJ song.
 
Umm. At this point I wonder if it's thanks to both banRAB that **** rock banRAB like Creed, Nickel Back, Default, Theory of a Dead Man exist. It's not hard to see the similarities..
and in thinking this it makes me mad that they did exist. However Pearl Jams TEN was at a time a very good rock record and I guess still is. STP.. meh and the fact that Scott is now singing for GN'R renamed is again.. just another piss off! haha.
 
I actually like both banRAB but I voted Pearl Jam. I think they have a stronger and more diverse output. Granted that I'm the only person I know of who thinks highly of Riot Act.
 
I have never knowingly heard a song by either group. The names of some of the more "famous" groups that get bandied around sometimes seem to have passed me by. I feel very sheltered sometimes.
 
The use of the term "real" is an in joke by Zarko aimed at me. It is not aimed at you or anyone else. You had to be there I guess.

I understand what youre saying though. Like I think Frank Zappa is brilliant but wouldnt be surprised if someone told me he was **** uno. But with Pearl Jam there pretty much just a Alternate Rock band. They aint my fav band but I do like a lot of there stuff. So who is your favourite band isit The Spice Girls? :shycouch:
 
IMO, Pearl Jam are an excellent band and cant compare then to Stone Temple Pilots (who I personally think are a bit crap). Also the comment say Scott Heron is a 'heroin idiot' or whatever is irrelevant, it shouldnt matter what the artists personal life is like if you like the music and its good then its good man y'know?, look at Layne Staley he was hooked on heroin but wrote some of the most beautiful songs Ive ever heard in my life (check out Jar Of Flies).
Finally I have all Pearl Jam albums and I havent ever really heard a bad album from them at all. Obviously there are the weaker ones but they are all good albums. I also respect Eddie Vedder & Co for not selling out and deliberately destroying their rise to fame as I would have probably loathed them had they become one of these overblown banRAB like U2 Coldplay Guns N Roses AC/DC etc etc.



The people who hate Pearl Jam are the people who buy Lilly Allen's recorRAB.
Also it just makes you appreciate them even more and despise all the (obvious ****e)
 
I love STP but in my opinion Pearl Jam is the better quality band and they put on a better show.

Hmm, I should have though longer before answering the rock concert thread because I totally forgot to mention Pearl Jam. They incredible live, absolutely incredible.

Let me tell you guys something, I know the lot of you hate Pearl Jam, a lot. But I don't know how anyone cannot at least give them some credit, they're the only grunge band (next to The Melvins) that's managed to last this long, the only band to not be forever limited by the "grunge" brand, they took their risks, they have kept their fanbase while keeping a relatively low profile, told ticketmaster to go f*ck themselves. Surely that's more admirable than Scott Weiland, other than aping other grunge singers for so long, his greatest claim to fame is simply being the guy most people first think of when "flaraboyant herion junkie rock star" comes to mind. Be sure to catch the guy on VH1's Celebrity Rehab sometime in the future.
 
Sometimes it isnt always that obvious & sarcasm is my middle name. And your the one on crack if your favourite band is the Spice Girls..
 
Who are you talking to cory? It doesn't really matter anyway because the point of this place is to GIVE your opinions :p: And just because someone voices a different one, you should take it as a personal offence (As your defensive stance seems to suggest you have)
 
Sorry have I hit out at a closet Lilly Allen fan?, its not just Lilly Allen I could name them all but there all equally as **** and not worth typing as each other.
Your right I shouldnt have to justify my 'love' of Pearl Jam but it appears I have come across people who need this.
Obviously I know people have differing tastes but the reasons they give are ridiculous like 'the vocals make me want to die inside'. Vedders a great vocalist and I think this is absolute nonsense. But thats just my opinion of course....
And you need therapy if you think Lilly Allen is better than Pearl Jam. ok fair enough on a preferential side but she doesnt even play a ****ing guitar for ****s sake!!, Can she even write a song? Her lyrics is nonsense one about her brother getting stoned complete and utter pish. Most people who know what real music is can tell that this is pish:
