Nothing scared me more as a kid than this movie, tim curry gives a great performance as pennywise the shape shifting clown/being,i recently read the book and the differences are unbelievable, its nearly totally different, the child actors do a great job as the young kiRAB battling the monster and its easily the best part of the movie, the 2nd half with the adults isnt as good and the ending scene was a big letdown 2,i cant wait for the remake which promises 2 be more faithful 2 the novel, its already been said it will be rated R,which is always good.

I don't mind a ''remake" if you can big screen adaption of a TV mini series from a novel a remake. Two things to consider though:

1) Stephen King novels on the big screen have history of being bad.

2) Can anybody do a better job than Tim Curry? There is only so much one can do when playing an evil clown, can it be played differently?

The mist was really good, and what an ending
There are a few of his movies where the ending has been a bit pants though, the one that stanRAB out most for me was in the stand with the lotto hand coming down for a A-Bomb lol did that happen in the book anyone know?it would b nice to see tim back but i think they'll prob go with a younger actor, not 2 young i hope,id love to see the werewolf chase on neibolt street in the remake, that and patrick hockstetter(creepy little s.o.b)cant beleive the street wasnt even mentioned in the movie,i dont think the controversial sex scene will be included though, dont think id wanna see it 2 b honset lol

Slightly unfair. I realise that he has pumped out a shit load of "stories" (in whatever form) but if even one of them becomes a classic then it's not too bad. He has had a few classics, Shawshank, Green Mile, Shining, It, Stand etc. and many good adaptations and some not so good.

Shame to concentrate on the dross.

As long as the screenplays and production are quality, then the film should be fine.
That's the problem with the myriad of King adaptations.

The ending is pretty much the same in the book.
The ball of heat/light that Flagg uses to weld a guys mouth shut, grows bigger and bigger until it resembles 'The Hand of God'. This happens just when the firestarter brings Flagg a nuclear missile as a gift, with inevitable results.

how about hazel blears? dead ringer for an evil clown if I ever saw one.:D

Only the horrors bar Carrie, Misery and arguablyThe Shining. His non-horror based films have all been superb.

It was in fairness, fairly rubbish after the first part. The kiRAB and Tim Curry were brilliant but when came to them being adults it sucked. That awful spider thing at the end was ridiculous.

If it's going to be more faithful to the book then there is going to be some stuff which is going to really upset people (the bonding ritual between the Losers) and other stuff which has no real relevence to the main plot.

I loved the book and have the dvd of the mini series.

Tim Curry had Pennywise down to a T, 'We all floats down here.' is one of my favourite catch phrases.

I'm not sure if the film can do Pennywise justice but hopefully it will be able to do the monster in the sewer justice as the mini series version wasn't up to much.

IT is a fantastic film for the first half but for me it falls apart when it focuses on the characters adulthooRAB, and the ending just ruins everything. The saving grace is the child actors and Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown. Apart from that, I've always thought the film had a lot of problems with the plot and this is one of those times a remake isn't automatically a horrible idea.
