Stephen King Movie Adapations

I've been watching a few of these recently and was wondering what adaptations everyone likes best? My favourites are:

The Shining (Jack Nicholson fillm version)
Pet Sematary
IT (apart from the ending, which is a let down)
Misery
Cujo

I might have included Children of the Corn which starts out really well but goes downhill with the supernatural elements being overdone.

My favourites are Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Carrie & Stand By Me. Have you seen the Family Guy where they do adaptations of Shawshank Redemption, Stand By My & Misery? Hillarious! :D

How could I forget those? I love them. I think Carrie, especially, is my favourite thing Stephen King has ever done, too, and my favourite movie adaptation.

I like

IT
The Mist
Pet Cemetery
The Stand
even Tommyknockers

Really not a big fan of The Shining though.

I just hope Cell gets made sometime.

Yeah carrie is an exellent movie, anyone saw the 2002 remake?its a bit more faithful to the book exept the ending lol it took a totally different direction.

Same here and also like IT, The Stand and The Green Mile.

Apparently King didn't like the film version of The Shining and preferred the TV mini that he thought was more along the lines of his story.

I thought The Mist was utter carp!

The book and the Kubrick version of the Shining are so different I'm not even sure if it's fair to call the film an adaptation - more like a complete rewrite that a kept a few key elements. I like them both, but comparing the two is kinda futile.

It reminRAB me of a Guillermo del Toro quote I heard a few days ago: "Making an adaptation is a bit like marrying a widow. You have to be respectful of what came before, but at some point you gotta f**k..."

I agree about the Mist. It felt like watching a B-movie.

The Shining is an epic novel and the Kubrick adaption was really quite poor in comparison. IT is particularly similar, and I doubt any director could have captured that book on the silver screen while giving the book justice.

The Langoliers is a good adaption, as is The Stand.

hmmmm, i can only name two of he's that i know, I've probally seen others but didn't relise they were originally written by him.

It is a good film, don't no about the book though but it is far to long.

The shining is a boring film, i was bored, the book i haven't read but heard its good.
