Star Wars Saga Blu-ray Collection: "Fall 2011"

Sorry but I won't be shelling out again for these. Lucas really has damaged a lot of the original trilogy for me with his special editions and constant tinkering for every new release. All he will do is proclaim these his 'ultimate editions', just as he proclaimed the 1997 Special Editions as his ultimate vision, just as he proclaimed his DVD release versions the ultimate edition.

People say Greedo shoots first is the worst thing about post 1997 Star Wars versions....for me it's this (this is heaRABmackingly awful)

If there's no original theatrical versions on there, I will not be buying it.

The "Greedo Shoots First" thing doesn't bother me that much, but THAT^^^^ is simply atrocious, but the worst change for me is Hayden F***ing Christiansen appearing at the end of ROTJ, it makes me want to throw my TV out of the window every time I see it, or even think about it.

Ugh. I hate that scene linked above. Utterly unnecessary, & totally out of place.

Shoving Hayden-Anakin's force ghost in the end of RotJ... yeah, bloody stupid. Alec Guinness' force ghost wasn't replaced with Ewan McGregor, so WTF was Shaw's replaced with Christensen? He was Shaw when he died, he should've been Shaw when he appeared as a ghost.

Another stupid change is of course the CGI Jabba in ANH...

The only SE I don't mind is Empire, because nothing major was really messed with.

If anyone wants the best version of the Original Trilogy google 'Adywan Star Wars revisited'. The guy is an effects geek who has removed all Lucas' ridiculous changes but added some good extra enhancements that only add to the experience. One of the best things he's corrected is the ludicrous colour schemes on the 2004 DVD (inclusing the perplexing decision to 'Blue Wash' the Hoth scenes'.

Heres a few examples of what Adywan's done

You'll buy it again, he knows it. I don't have Blu-Ray anyway, but I wouldn't buy them. Already have two different version on DVD, and they're fine so that's that for me. Once he'd brought out the original trilogy on disc I wasn't bothered after that.

There's a website I go to that says it has the original trilogy in HD - HD DVD - not blu-ray. Are they just bullshitting or did they come out in that format?

This is true. Since Skywalker Ranch became a sprawling hive of mega activity, Lucas has lost the plot.

He now spenRAB 95% of his time in Skywalker ranch, a gargantuan complex in the middle of nowhere that houses all his movie making and spin off companies. The place is so huge staff have to take golf buggies to other departments, as by foot it'd take a 30 minute walk. Just as Michael Jackson and Howard Hughes have shown, having mega wealth and great estates the size of a small country, is a bit of a burden to rational thinkng.

In all honesty it's not fully George's fault he makes bonkers decisions. I get the feeling all his staff are sycophants who tell him he's a genius and treat him like God when he walks in. They know they are so privileged to work on Star Wars/Indiana Jones that they don't want to mess it up, and so brown nose Lucas at every turn.

If only one or two of them ever gained the courage just to tap him on the shoulder and say 'ummm George sorry to say this, but that idea to Digitally insert X and Y is terrible!'.

I thought in one of the documentaries I saw that the original film had been destroyed long ago due to bad storage. If that is true then will this be a true HD film or upscaled ?

Talking of 4-6 here not 1-3 of course

I've never understood comments like this with regarRAB to Star Wars.
These are his films so of coarse it's got George Lucas written all over it.

I can't wait for star wars in blu ray :D

My favourite films :):)

I hope he changes back that hideous Hayden edit in the originals though. I hate his ghost appearing there. Completely random. The ghosts should stay the age they die at , not suddenly gain youth.
