Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith - The Saga is Complete

i never really got into star wars, but i love hayden and im so interested in the anikan/padme storyline. could anyone give me a brief lowdown on what happened between them in this? how did he leave her etc.. i thought he loved her...but he still leaves her or something? sorry i dont know much about it.

I want to just lay it up and say, "hey, not everyone has hollywood romances like you'd expect to see, it's nice to see that it's coming up however they feel" but it's just bad writing and to some extent bad delivery.

I was one of the people that didn't think Episodes I and II were "that bad". If you ever read in depth interviews with GL about those films, he'll explain the reasons behind them and why he made the films the way he did. Once you have that understanding and see all movies in a row think LOTR it's one story. Not 3 seperate movies. Unfortunately, GL didn't have the luxury to do them the way Peter Jackson did which we all agree, LOTR films were excellent and a huge success.

GL stated that episode one was about a young boy. Episode II was a love story. Episode III is the story of Anakin and turning from Jedi to the Darkside. All of the SW movies are ultimately focused on Anakin/Darth Vader, which when we only had the original trillogy we thought the story was about Luke/Leia...which now in the grander picture isn't the case.

OK, not to turn this into "discussion of episodes I and II" which this thread isn't...I'll just say that movie critics can go to hell, b/c this is the one movie the fans have been waiting for. It'll do well, really well at the box office. Despite attempts from the so called "critics" to give it bad press.

I say close to 350mil domestic and more internationally b/c the fans abroad are just as excited to see it. So that is the vindication for GL. Despite the press' opinion, the success of the film will be the only "recommendation" you'll need to add the film to your DVD library.

lol i found this at the star wars board...a woman posted this on the internet...this woman is insane...:lmao:

GEORGE Lucas is about to receive a letter from my nine year old son informing him that his history of that famous galaxy far, far away is about as accurate as a light saber in the hands of an ewok.
Anakin Skywalker, my little boy's hero, was never tempted by the dark side, let alone fated to become its leading evildoer, and Lucas's attempts to cast him in that evil twilight have caused the Stars Wars writer and producer to grow horns on his head and develop glowing hot coals for eyes.
This week I explained to my son that he wouldn't be seeing Revenge Of The Sith, the final instalment of Star Wars, for two reasons - one because of it's reputed violence and darkness and two because seeing the hero of The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones turn so breathtakingly evil, particularly when he is the idol of children the world over, is amoral movie making at its worst and a betrayal of childish trust.
I was suprised by son's reaction. "I don't want to see it anyway," he said. "George Lucas doesn't know what he's talking about. Why would a good hero become evil? He wouldn't have been a hero in the first place, would he?
"It's too stupid. If Anakin was Darth Vader then Darth Vader couldn't have been so bad, could he? George Lucas is dumb".
Indeed, if George Lucas thinks Anakin Skywalker is his character to remake and remould however he chooses, he may be seriously mistaken.
Judging by my son's reaction I can see Revenge Of The Sith spawning a whole range of breach of copyright actions as the young followers of Anakin Skywalker attempt to correct this perverted telling of his story.

[part edited out cause it spoils a scene]

Revenge Of The Sith sounds as though it is little more than George Lucas wallowing in a sea of self indulgence. He apparently has no concern about conflicting the emotions of children and breaking their hearts. It would be a different matter if The Star Wars series hadn't been pitched at children, as it has been until now.
I hope parents and kids vote with their feet on this movie and keep walking past the cinemas that are showing it after it premieres at the end of this month. Who knows, it may just inspire George Lucas to research the history of that galaxy with greater diligence.

already :jaw_drop:

i think what drew fans to watch the movie the most out of the episodes...was looking forward to the transition period when Anakin became Darth Vader. JMO (besides Padme/Anakin love) ;)

I used the watch Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi every Saturday after Saved by the Bell with my sister. And, even though Revenge of the Sith is so sad, it is one I think I can watch over and over again. Not only does it have great action, but it has one the the most tragic love stories ever.

He was just trying to save Padme!!!

Since today is "the day", I edited the title to include Spoilers in our discussions and reviews.

However, I think everyone pretty much knows what is going to happen as far as the overall storyline since that isn't a huge secret and never was ;)

As cheesy as that scene is I actually like it now. It grew on me. But it's still the cheesy thing ever

anakin - "you are so beautiful"
padme - "its only because im so in love"
anakin - "no" [laughs] "no, its because im so in love with you"

This profile quote is why you will never hear the word "sensual" in the same sentence as Star Wars

 Yeah that obligatory moron has been following me for years and he usually brings his friends; Crying Kid and Loud Woman who has to explains everything to her husband who has a hearing aid.

ETA: Some spoilers below....

I saw this with my Mom and she hates Star Wars! But she loved this one so that's really saying something. The only part I didn't like was the one that I found most disturbing. Anakin catching on fire. Maybe it's my fear of being burned alive but OMG I did not like that. It also didn't help with my little sister whispering "He was so hot! Why did he want to be disfigured?"

And even though Natalie didn't have a lot to do this time around I just adore her.

GL has said he wants to do a TV series that takes place between Revenge and A New Hope (when the Jedi Order is splintered and the Empire is forming) and it should hit TV screens in a year, year and a half or so.

I think this is a great idea as TV is the perfect media for this kind of drama as TV series provide a bigger canvas for character development than movies (because of a movies limited running time) and because this period is ripe for really good drama as far as the human reaction to such a drastic event like the Empire taking over.

It also provides a great opportunity for brand new characters that can hopefully break out of the archetypes that inhabit the films (the rouge; the idealistic hero; the mentor; etc.) and thereby be more human and realistic if the series is written with these things in mind.

GL has also said he wouldn't mind doing a "Knights of the Old Republic" movie that chronicles a young Yoda and the formation of the Republic since it would be set 100 (or more) years before the events of any of the SW films to date. This would be treat for SW fans who are into the Extended Universe (EU) which already chronicles these things via comics and video games and again, provide more realistic and human characters in the process.

My guess would be GL would just be a creative consultant on the TV series and KOTOR film and not actually write them himself... Which is a good thing and would allow more in-depth character exploration considering this is one of his weak points that even he admits he could do better in terms of being a writer.

They're even cuter in the next trilogy...

But seriously, I know what you mean: I just saw the movie too and it was good, better than the previous two.

I'll try to see it on Thursday. Most likely, with all the buzz and hype this movie is getting, I won't get to see it until the weekend.

looks like I will be seeing this movie on thursday. I didnt even know I was going to see it until my friend james bought me a ticket  It does look good though so Im sure I will enjoy it

Wow. Where the HELL do you live??!! That is sad. I went at midnight here in Minnesota, and they had 10 screens showing it. All sold out. And it isn't even THAT big of a city. So I don't know what your town is doing!! :(

Of course, all of the showings got done at the exact same time, so it took about half an hour to get out of the damn parking lot  It was crazy.

i gotta say, hayden just lit up the scenes [cough] SHIRTLESS scenes;) but i almost died when he burned!

yea, that would be cool, and they wouldnt have to add any more to the story...it would just be about luke and leia growing up...and vader still not feeling their presence...but GL doesnt wanna make anymore SW movies, because he wants to spend some time with his family...

i actually heard that GL was gonna make one more SW movie...like star wars 0 kind of thing, and it would be like 100 years before yoda, qui-gon, and obi wan, but i think that was just a rumor...:)
