 That definitely seems to be the case, from what I've heard so far too. I really wish we'd gotten to see Spock's birth scene, because I'm sure it's shown in one of the trailers, but it'll probably be a deleted scene on the DVD now. And the whole issue with Jim having a brother is interesting, although I can't help but think they changed that for the movie because it's almost irrelevant, in a sense, and there's not enough time to really delve into that side of his family. I think that's the main reason they changed so much of it, including how certain scenarios played out.
That's why I do like novelisations though, because they're good for fleshing out specific scenes and adding a bit more depth - plus if there's any ambiguity for the audience, it's cleared up with whatever the answer is in the book.
Aaaw, that makes me sad

But in another sense, I suppose if I really think about it, I could see why you might not see it (even though it pains me to say that!). I suppose all I can in defense is that since they were just establishing Spock and Kirk as friends in this, and especially since they come from enemies first, there's not really much room for the epic friendship to come through by the end of the film. I think we're just supposed to get a hint of things to come next time.
Hahaha, I don't blame you. They really do have a special friendship, I love how Bones couldn't leave Jim behind and found a way to get him on board the Enterprise, at the risk of his own career! It says a lot about his character, especially since later he tried to take the blame for what he thought was Jim being crazy on the bridge. He always stands by him. Except for that one time with Spock, but he felt hella guilty about that.
Ohh yeah, that's who I meant. Forget the rest of the random crew, I'm talking about the main guys  I'm looking forward to seeing more of Scotty, Sulu and Chekov especially, and seeing how they all interact and fit with the rest of them.
Also, yay Chris!!! :yay: Who got #1, out of curiosity?
