Star Trek 11 - Dvd or Blu-Ray ?

DVD.

That is an easy choice for me to make of course as I don't have a blu-ray player.
Looking on amazon though I think something like the Next Gen Movie Collection - also due out mid Nov - cost about two and a half times as much.

High def or not there is no way I would pay stupid money like that just for a slightly clearer picture.
 
i got a copy already. it's out in france, you can order from amazon.fr. i bought the dvd and the blu ray.

it's the same print that will be released here as far as i can tell, just has french on the cover.

if you pay for the express delivery (which i did to beat the post strike) it comes by courier the next day (i have a feeling it was actually despatched from a uk warehouse).
 
Why ask this question OP, surely it's a simple case of personal choice, and though you have a bluray player (PS3) seems like you've already made up your mind to go DVD, due to your budget. I don't understand the point in this thread, buy what you want, if you're happy with upconversion, then go with that. I personally will always go the blu route if it's available, and I don't think I'd need to ask anyone either! SORRY!
 
I had to update the firmware to get it to play Blu-ray Bond movies, but I've had no other problems with it.

its out today in NZ and AUS! but i strongly recommend never buying DVRAB or bluray from NZ - as they are simply AUS packaging - but with a pernament sticker (if attempted to peel it off, it rips the paper packaging with it) with NZ age classifications over the AUS classifications. they are normally also stuck crudely and lopped sided!!!

the new Star Trek film has got me in a blooming predicimant!
just finished a heavy shift on a mental health ward. and everyone was that bit extra mad tonight. and i need a little cry. more about the evening then star trek! but i shall moan about star trek!
so, if i cant rant this here - i cant rant it anywhere else!
i dont own a bluray player...but i really want Star Trek on bluray, as the extra features look amazing (then start getting blurays from then onwarRAB). thats all fine - so the intention is to get a brand new PS3 (interest of games died after the Amiga 500 became obsolete 17/18 years ago)) - i aint a gamer, and always said i'd get myself a Wii if i was to get a new console. but they aint bluray, are they? no! so a ps3 it is. Because i am a bit OCD, i dont want any old crappy ps3, i want the best - and the new 250Gb slimline are 270 squid! fine. but then, i want to get all this before christmas, so i can watch Star Trek with my dad who hasnt seen it, but will more likely hate it.
fine. but this plan and mind set coinsides with me taking a major career change at that time, which will involve me returning to the uk and leaving my job to become a student nurse again.
i want to convert to become a proper nurse.
and i have to buy a car.

p.s. and also there is apparently a 5 disc bluray version of Watchmen out very soon. A version with the black fryer animation in the movie - over 3 and half hours long!
 
Not got any Prisoner discs as not a fan of the show.

The Curtis may well have been causing people problems, but I doubt most of those machines have had the firmware upgraded on them. It's not something I wanted to do for fear of bricking the player, but after making one CD coaster, it was so easy to do.

I will say that I've got two R1 copies of Licenced to Kill on Blu (one of them a replacement), and the picture on both discs glitches in exactly the same two places when using the Curtis. It's not something I can get to the bottom of. I'm assuming it's the player, but there's no logical reason for it.
 
Assuming you mean the Region A Bluray and not the R1 dvd can you post the running time at which this glitch appears and I'll test my LTK disc on my Panasonic .

It would seem that all the Region A Bluray BonRAB are deleted and slowly getting harder to get .

The UK ones will probably do the same as Goldfinger seems hard to get from some suppliers , although plenty still have some copies of it

First glitch is around 43 mins in. Anthony Zerbe standing in the control room of his boat as the captain is launching the Sentinel.

Second glitch later on - Hotel room in Isthmus - Q, Carey Lowell and Talisa Soto.
