What? There is no comparison. The only thing these bikes have in common are the black rubber tires.

Day and Night. Black and White. Jupiter and Mars.

One of em' is a damned fine, well tuned, extremely well balanced and comfortable performance/touring machine. The other one isn't. One of em' is several times winner of Motorcycle of the Year. The other one isn't.

If you rode a KLR 650, and rode it well, you can handle either one of these bikes. One is cumbersome and slow, the other isn't.

Buy the one that gives you the biggest grin!

Your money my friend buy what you like the most - me I`d buy the 883 in a blink.Because I have owned one and put 7500km on it before trading it on the FLSTC.I speak from experience when I say the only thing that limits a 883 is the fuel tank capacity - but we all need a whizz & a break anyway.

I am looking for a bike this weekend on Craigslist. I haven't ridden a big bike before so I dont know
ahead of time which one might be best suited for me. In the past I have owned a KLR 650, and 150cc
scooter, and a small Suzuki cruiser; the latter being many years ago. Both the 883 and Concours
appeal to me. What would be the general riding dynamics of each one, or the differences between them in that regard? I do not plan to tour. I live in Colorado so I might go up to the mountains and
sight see, though. I might hit the highway and drive on the Eastern Plains. I might ride around town.
That's basically all I envision doing. Any help you could give me with my decision would be appreciated.
I am 50 years old, and 6 ft, 190 pounds. The 883 is a XHL883 with 8K on the engine. He wants $3500.
The Concours is a ZG1000 with 12K on the engine. He wants $5000. Both of them sound like a ogod deal. Thanks for your input.
