SPOILERS Star Wars episode III (what do you think)

Just how long was that pap? 3 hours?

Thank God I didn't have to sit in a cinema through that dire mish-mash of some of the worst acting and childish dialogue I have ever witnessed.

The original Star Wars was an excellent film at the time, everything else has just floundered since.

The acting was awful, by anyones standarRAB.
The CGI was painful, and pitifully obvious.
The clich

All in all a top film. About 10x better than the previous 2 combined.

The story arc was much easier to follow and had depth - unlike the previous 2. The only clunky bits were with Padme - beautiful as N. Portman is - she was totally wasted and very stupid.

I thought Palpatine, Obi Wan and Anakin all acted their socks off with the material given. So much better than TPM and AOTC. There was like 80% of the necessary story in ROTS and made you realised how much padding was used in the other 2.

I really just enjoyed it - I saw the 8pm showing at Odeon Leicester Square and my favourite moment was queueing up for the toilet before the film and watching darth vader walk out heavy breathing - really set the tone for the event. Lots of cheering and people enjoying themselves.

It was very very dark - and the only gory bit was anakin at the end - the tone of the film was just not for kiRAB at all. I really enjoyed all the action sequences and thought Mace Windu was very cool - as was Yoda.

The Plagius bit as i seet it - He was Sidious' master - apprentice killed master. Master managed to create life - hence Anakin. So Anakin actually ended up bringing balance to the force and being the chosen one - came full circle by destroying most of the jedi and then at the end of VI killing off Sidious.

Sidious hadn't discovered after-life or immortality - otherwise he wouldn't have died at the end of ROTJ.

Phew!

Saw the film Sunday night- very disapointed again. Wooden acting, dreadful dialogue- at several points the audience were laughing AT the film (mainly anakins lines).
If only George had told the story to someone who could actually write.

Effects fantastic, film too long for the story I think about 1 hour of decent story-the rest was padding.

Anyone else feel it didnt flow- seemed like badly edited "episodes"

Did like the way it all came together at the end, but overall a wasted opertunity .

Just wondering if anyone else noticed the slip in the overall story arc with Padme? All through ep3 we get told she is going to die in childbirth and she does. Yet in ep6 when Luke and Leia are talking on the bridge in the ewok village, he asks her if she remembers her real mother? She replies that she died when she was young but remembered her being very sad!

Either Leia has a vivid from birth memory of her mother dying or Lucas got a bit mixed up with the storyline!

Having never bothered to watch Star Wars until episode I was released I thought it was an OK movie. I then watched the original 3. I really enjoyed the 1st and 2nd (episode IV and V) but the 3rd (episode 6) was poor. OK the end was ok but the story dragged and I found the Ewoks as annoying and stupid as most people find Jar Jar Binks who for the record I find was quite a big part of the story. Episode II was more a love story with some great battle sequences but it sets up episode III very well and explains Anakin

Most people say the film is very sad...and it is. But I don't understand how people can say the acting was very poor?

If people were saying they were moved to tears at the climax...perhaps the acting and dialogue ain't as bad as it seems fashionable to say?

I know exactly what he meant.

Neither Sidious or Plageuis fathered/created Anakin. Anakin was created by the force itself.

Plageuis could not have 'impregnated' Shmi with midichlorians because he dies years before Anakin's birth.

Sidious couldn't have done it because he admits to Anakin after Mace dies that he does not yet know fully how to create life, and suggests to Anakin that they find out how to do it together.

Lucas himself has even stated that no one person manipulated midichlorians to concieve Anakin. It was an immaculate conception, the will of the force.

Anakin has no father.

Sidious tells Anakin this because he knows Anakin worries for Padme's life. He is lying to him, over-exagerating the power of the dark side, to tempt him.

Thats what the Sith does - Lie, create mistrust.

I didn't think it was great, but it was OK. I haven't seen the other Star Wars films, besides a bit of A New Hope.

I think it was the music that pushed on my emotional button rather than the acting.

I blubbed at the end when Leia goes to her adopted mother. I think the piece is called Leia's theme. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

No acting was required for that scene, but for me , the music was beautiful and I found it very emotional.

I think you're talking bollocks about numerous things, but in this instance I was referring to your criticism of the wipes.

They've been in every Star Wars film, it's a stylistic thing paying homage to 1930's serials.

Personally, I didn't like the first half at all. The backgrounRAB just looked so artificial, like something you'd see in a computer game, not at all realistic. It was almost like those cutscenes you get in computer games, where they have real actors on top of a computer generated backdrop.

It's been a while since I've seen any of the original trilogy, but my friend agrees that they looked better and thinks it's because GL used models more then but that's he's gotten lazy and moved to computer generation for the later trilogy.

I only really started to enjoy the film shortly before Mace and Palpatine started fighting and I really enjoyed it from then on. Maybe it was the Dark Side in me :)

Mind you, what do I know. I enjoyed PM and actually think Jar Jar and ewoks are cool and funny!

I enjoyed the film, it was satisfying to see loose enRAB tied up.....but I don't believe for one minute that lucas had the main storyline for the prequels in his head in the 70's.

What I mean is its like drawing a target around the arrow (for the prequels) rather than hitting the target from a thrown arrow......if you know what I mean!

Well don't sit there seething, let's hear them.

The wipes looked naff, I don't care if they were a homage to Mohammed - but in the frame of the whole scenario, they played a miniscule part in my disappointment with this film.

I'll say this very slowly for you, so you take it on board...

I did not like the film, for the reasons I have posted, I don't care how many times you shake your Argos special edition light-up light sabre at me, I didn't like the film, whereas I respect the views of people who did like the film.

Do you see?

It's spelt SABER, not sabre.

I think I shall end this argument as it may give people the impression I'm a screaming Star Wars fan boy. I'm not.

And I'd agree with quite a lot of what you've had to say (although I don't know how you can fault the CGI), but overall I liked this film.

I think it's probably because my expectations were so low after Phantom Menace and the dreck that passed for Padme/ Annakin scenes in Attack of the Clones.
