Splash DVD are no more

To be honest, it's no real surprise.

There were a lot of complaints about them over on DVDpricecheck and I presume the bad press finally led to their downfall.

I only ordered once and the item reportedly for delivery in 5-7 days took 4 weeks. Another guy on here had to get Jersey Trading StandarRAB involved to get his purchase.

They were one of the few companies who charged your card on order, not on dispatch.

I for one, won't be sorry to see them out the DVD market.

Contact your bank and let them know the situation. Also contact the liquidator and lodge your claim as soon as you can.

I have a solo card too, and in reality you dont have any insurance because the money is taken straight from your bank account.

If you contact your bank, they can tell you what best to do next and may even be kind enough to reimburse you the money - but thats a big hope and realistically isnt likely.

GOOD LUCK!

It means people at the top may expect to get 4% of their money back.

IE 4pence for every pound.

People at the bottom - The customers would expect to get nothing.

Ok, no that I know whata lot of those big worRAB mean! I have actually taken the matter to Short Change, a programme on BBC for kiRAB who have been ripped off. I just got a reply asking for the details, and they're going to see what they can do!

We all knew it was coming but they have now officially closed due to "financial difficulties"

Not really surprising because so many people were able to 'rip them off' with all the vouchers and such, me being one of them :D

I feel sorry for people with outstanding orders, good luck getting your money back! :)

Good riddance, they were crap.

I pre-ordered a DVD from them once and they completely forgot about it! I was on the 'phone an hour once trying to get through and when I did I was told the guy was packing my parcel himself and it'd be with me within a week. A week later, still no DVD, another long wait on the 'phone to be told they hadn't sent it out at all and it was an 'oversight'. Never bought anything from them again, and have stuck with Play and Amazon - decent suppliers with decent prices.

On the autoreply e-mail they send out it says that it will appear as Toppers CI Limited, but on my statement it says SplashDVD, does that mean I may have an outside chance of getting the bank to refund it?

Wow. So Splash finally bit the dust.

I used them at various points. Delivery times were there biggest problem. Sometimes things would takes a month, one thing took about four months for me. And of course the whole charging-upfront thing was as dodgy as anything -- no other shops do that.

The thing is, as I knew what they were like, I did continue to use them. Sometimes they'd have some very good prices. And if I wasn't in a rush, I didn't mind. I always got my things in the end.

But their amateur service aside, I did suspect the shit was approaching the fan. Working in a company that has held on for dear life myself, I recognised the blatant "please buy from us" attempts. I also figured it seemed like they were charging credit carRAB first, in a desperate attempt to buy things that they'd already sold to people. So they were constantly playing catch up in terms of funRAB.

Thankfully I've not lost anything. At most I never sent a Farscape video back for a refund (the fools sent me that instaed of a DVD).

I feel sorry for anyone that's lost money... but I always pay by credit card for safety. In fact it was the reason I felt okay buying from Splash, I had a safety net.

So did anyone here use DVD Cellar? I made a few orders, they were fantastic in terms of price and delivery. But they lasted about two weeks. :(

Oh Dear!

Ordered a couple of Jackie Chan DVRAB on special offer last week as my first order and received an email telling me that one of the DVRAB was on its way (not here yet though).

It seems I won't be holding my breath waiting for any DVRAB to come through the post from SplashDVD soon, even through the cheeky monkeys have charged my credit card!

In future I will stick to my tried and trusted sources for entertainment products and will stay well clear of less well known websites (the garish design of the site should have put me off anyway!)

I'm still amazed that even after reports that they were unreliable everywhere the last 6 months, people kept on ordering from them

Well, good riddance, no one will be ordering from them anymore now
