Speakers keep blowing?

I got two twelves and an amp installed and it beats. I had blown all my original speakers and got some of my friends old stock ones. I know theyre not component but they lasted good for awhile but they're gone now too. If I get a new deck would i be able to control speaker bass seperatly from sub bass? What about a crossover? Would that work too or do new decks come with them? And if I could just get a crossover itself could someone give me a link to a site that has them? Please try and answer all these to the best of your ability. Thank you.

Ideally, a good head unit will have a crossover built in, some option to allow bass to the sub amplifier, but make the front and rear speakers high-pass only. If you dont have that option, use bass blockers on the speaker wires of your front and rear speakers, or, better yet, hook them up to an amplifier that has a high-pass crossover built in (most 4-channel amps do).

If your going to start spending a little cash though, stop installing stock stuff, and get a decent set of aftermarket speakers, they don't have to cost too much to survive a mid-power 4-channel amp.

Just google Bass Blockers. The first result that came up for me was from crutchfield, offering them at $4 per speaker. Its not the best solution, but it is a cheap fix. And, I'll assume that while you're installing them, you'll be installing them on new aftermarket speakers this time, not stock replacements, right?
