Southern Culture on the Skids?

First, Southern Culture on the Skids was/is a cool band. Check them out!
Second, why don't you move?
Third, why do you hate people for the way they talk? Seems shallow.

Who can indulge their southern culture most eloquently. I'm a liberal, socialist, that believes in universal government sponsored healthcare, complete freedom of the press, gay marriage, and a woman's right to abortion. The confederate flag was meant to be burned (I'd happily leave a gift on my g-g-g-g-g-grandfather's confederate grave that couldn't be mistaken for flowers). And I think people that say things like a'ight, yon't to, rekon, and crik have no right to voice an opinion on a single national language. Unfortunately my record is spoiled by the fact that I do support the individuals right to bear arms. To counter that, I think there should be a national ban on all gun shows. And for all that, I'm sort of stuck living in North Georgia. Isn't life ironic?
To bad I don't have the points to thumbs up Quack Pot and Michael H. I liked those answers. : )

No one is ever STUCK living anywhere. You have two legs, if you can't afford to leave--walk right on out of there. Hating the south doesn't make you seem cool--but rather in reality, a dolt who likes to bash on the south because you believe it's "in" to do so. I don't really care what you believe, THAT alone negated any positives.

I know the feeling. I about chucked up a lung when I found out my folks on my father's side were Connecticut Yankees who had served the Union. I plan to find their graves and leave a steamer one day as well.

You should live in a socialist or communist country for 3 years.

While there, you'll be properly learned by reality, and ya taint gonna spek lak dat agin, ah rekon.

Because despite the beliefs that you've just listed, you are self-contradictory, and you're not smart enough to figure it out.

I'm in South Carolina. Liberal as hell. But I disagree with your attitude. My state has a ton of backwoods rednecks, a bunch of confederate flag waving 'patriots' who want to secede from this great nation, thousands of people who repeatedly vote for Republicans, but expect different outcomes.
I don't agree with most, I argue with many. But I love this state and these people far too much to trash their southern phrases and expressions, when there's so many more important things that we need for our state and region. Frankly, our educational system is so broken, I can't hold our citizens responsible for their inability to access quality educational institutions.

You should move to a more educated state like New York, the south is a hell hole

you sir have graduated into a traitor! And it will come back to bite you in the ass (without principles) Move to the north or west coast where you belong!

yah!!, leave us here southerners alone. If you don't wanna live in tha racist, ig'nant, immigrant hatin' south, move to the civilized north. Leave us primitives and our white power culture alone!

Then you should get the fuck out and go to New York or California because us Georgians are sick of people like you looking down on us.

Move out and stop trying to change OUR culture and raise OUR taxes.

I don't see a question here. I love Southern culture. Your philosophies you've stated here are just kiddie fads. I am old enough to be really tired of little kids thinking they know more than everyone else.

Added: Discussed your question with my dad at breakfast this morning and he said IF the South is losing its culture (which I doubt you know anything about, really), it is because of liberal blowhards like you.

You should move. Clearly, you're miserable there; and if I can extrapolate anything about you, you make the people of Georgia, many of whom have been nothing but good neighbors to each other throughout the floods, miserable. Are you as bigoted about Ebonics as you are about South American English? You're a smear on that state. To top it off, you are somehow still a regional bigot.
Peace

Much of the upper south is becoming more moderate.

Virginia is no longer a southern state, and parts of North Carolina (Raleigh/Cary/Chapel Hill) are insanely liberal.

I suppose the Atlanta suburbs are becoming more liberal, as well.
