South Park - "The China Probrem" - Talkback

I'm sure our guys will keep it classy and do one. They'll just put in on a better episode. When I heard about his death South Park was the first thing I thought of, because the brilliant "Return of Chef" left that window open that ONE DAY Chef would use his brain, follow his heart, and realize Scientology is nutzo and be saved from that Dark Side of the Force.

I didn't know P.F. Chang's existed until Randy mentioned it in regard to his "record." I saw one in the city recently for the first time. It's almost like "Dude! They made a restaurant out of that place from South Park!"

To anyone who says that doing an Indy 4 joke is dated because the movie came out in May probably have forgotten that the DVD/Blu-ray comes out this Tuesday. And, South Park and Indy 4 are both in the same Paramount/Viacom family...

As for Indy, I am the only person in my family who has not seen Indy 4 because my brother warned me about the plot (mostly the parts dealing with the aliens). Also, I thought they were done with Lucas and Spielberg when they did "Free Hat" (mostly because of, you know, their skin being melted off from viewing the Special Edition of "Raiders Of the Lost Ark"), and I thought that the person who was raped was Butters.

Overall, I thought that this episode was meh. Shocked with all the Indy rape (and Stormtrooper rape), but this ep was the weakest of the season. Mostly because they were repeating the concepts of "Free Hat" but made them more disturbing. Plus, no explaination as to how Lucas and Spielberg came back from the supposed dead with their skin back! :mad:I'm super cereal!

china plot>indy jones

loved when cartman and butters were talking chinese. lol. reason why i watch south park
hello and please-had me lol'ng for 2 minutes afterwards
onlything was missing was city wok lol

Hilarious how people continue to bash South Park while not getting it.

The Family Guy thing was poking at their incredibly random humor and gags unrelated to the story, not being centered on pop culture. Not to mention that they totally nailed it right regarding Family Guy.

Second of all, if you watched the episodes and listen to some of the characters' speeches they aren't really that hateful of Family Guy. The episode was supposed to express more the hypocrisy of network censors and how off they are. This whole Mohammed controversy after that Dutch cartoon strip, when South Park had previously already depicted Muhammed in that religious super friends riff. Where was the Islamic uproar over that? THERE WASN'T ANY! Mohammed was not cut.

I think characters like Kyle, and I think that bartender or a side character said there's nothing wrong with just having some silly comedy shows that don't try to shove a message down your throat every now and again. Then again, as of late Seth McFarlund has quite often used his animation as a soapbox for his liberal political views.

I'm sorry, but South Park making fun of Lucas and Spielberg never gets old. People act like some of these figures are sacred and undeserving of criticism. What's wrong with ridiculing Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?

There's nothing wrong with it. I just would prefer to not be smacked in the face by Indiana Jones getting raped for a half hour. I just didn't find it funny and obviously others agree.

I don't see what this has to do with Family Guy. Please don't tell us we "dont get it".

Not every post is directed at you, you know. Someone else in this thread criticized this episode for being pop-culture oriented like Family Guy.

But you can still -- you know what? I'm not going to go there.

Thank you for saying that so I didn't have to.

The only thing that bugged me was the 'resolution' to the Cartman plot. Like the 'Passion Of The Jew' episode, it was a bit... Odd. Like they were just looking for a way out.

Wow, this is easily the worst episode of south park ever.

The Indy plot wasn't really funny, only the exsessive crying and how people kept imagine indy getting raped differently saved it from being laughless).

The only funny part in the China plot for me was the introduction, Butters shooting people in their private parts (apparently the actual word is blocked, which makes no sense to me imo), and Cartman leaving at the end

I do like how the show broke the 4th wall quite a few times. That was probably my favorite part of this ep

overall: D-

The absolute worst South Park ever.

F

I really hope this isn't going to be a trend of episodes getting lazier and lazier. One laugh came from the second time Butters shot a guy in the crotch, but that was it. Awful, awful episode.

Excellent episode! I haven't seen the newest Indy movie but I'm sure its good since its a movie so I guess I agree more with Butters. This episode was also good though. However it was particularly pleasing to see Lucas and Spielberg at 'work' heh. Every now and then its good to take the rich and rip them to pieces as they deserve.

Did anyone else notice they're definitely framing the episodes for widescreen now? There was one part where you couldn't even really see Stan talking because he was just off the side of the screen. They must be future-proofing the show for HD.

Other than that... not much to talk about. It was a chuckler.

Total LMAO the entire time. Of course Cartman had to get butters help. And Butters kept shooting people in the dick... LMAO. "Butters, you don't shoot a guy in the dick." Eventually, Cartman lost his cool becuase of that, haha, wow, that was funny.

And the Indiana Jones getting raped thing was also funny. Now I haven't seen the Crystal Skull, just for reference. But each dream was more disturbing than the last... But when they caught Speilberg and Lucas... LMAO, Lucas was raping the Storm Trooper... LMAO... wow, I wasn't expecting that.

Again, a LMAO moment (I was talking to my best friend on Yahoo at the time, and I don't know how many times we said LMAO between the two of us :p ).
