South Park - "The China Probrem" - Talkback

This isn't funny. I'm not shocked or offended by any of this, but Steven Spielberg and George Lucas raping Indiana Jones just...isn't funny. I didn't see Crystal Skull but still...is this necessary?

And the Cartman plot is so tired. I used to adore this show. Now I'm wondering why I even turning it on tonight.

And these overlong video game previews aren't helping. But if this is what the average South Park audience is into these days who am I to judge?

Anybody else but me finding it really hard to care about the Cartman/Butters subplot? It keeps taking screentime away from the more interesting (IMO) Indiana Jones story and I haven't really laughed at it yet.

Although I am kinda mad because I haven't seen Indy 4 yet and I'm afraid I might've been a little spoiled just now. Aliens? What?

Actually, I take it back. The Indy plot isn't entertaining anymore. It's just rape fantasy after rape fantasy after rape fantasy. Boring.

EDIT: The Stormtrooper running away shouting made me laugh for some reason.

Seriously. Just because you can do something like that (because honestly, Matt and Trey can do anything they damn well please on this show by now) doesn't mean you should.

And they shouldn't have.

This is one of the downsides of waiting until the 11th hour to do the actual episode. I think Trey & Matt waited until the last possible second, and just pulled the first plot they thought of and put it into the episode.

Maybe they just did a mediocre episode while working on a *real* special episode, like another 2 or 3 parter. We're due for another one of those this season.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not -- either way, that person was most likely referring to the movies that had the original rape scenes which were being parodied.

I think it's ironic that SP blasted family guy for being centered on pop culture, when now it seems they have entire episodes devoted to Guitar hero and Britney Spears. As far as Indie, seems quite a bit dated, I mean that was in may and it is currently October. I think most people have just forgotten that embarrassment of a film.

I didn't think Indy 4 was that bad...

Anyways, this was an okay episode. At least it wasn't as bad as Over Logging, which was awful, one of the worst SP episodes to date.

Steven Spielberg and George Lucas arrested for raping?

And no "In memory of Issac "Chef" Hayes" tacked in at the end.

Even South Park has its own P.F. Chang's!

Even the commercial breaks were all previews for 3 new video games.

Erm, not really. They blasted FG for constantly doing jokes that had nothing to do with the main plot of the episode.

It's no different than when they used to do episodes about Barbara Streisand and Star Wars Special Edition. Aside from the early episodes, which were more about establishing the town and characters, the show has long dealt with pop culture moreso than just about any other scripted comedy. It's usually part of the story, though.

Yeah, but the Raiders of the Lost arc ep made sense, because they were actually changing the original film, hence a rape analogy would have made sense, but Kingdom of the Chrystal Skull is an original movie. How are they raping anything? I mean, someone might say Joel Schumacher raped Batman in making Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, but that's because those movies are based on comic books. How can they say George Lucas raped a character that he made by making a new movie with him? I mean, it would be the equivalent of saying Trey Parker and Matt Stone raped South Park.

Where was all this rancor when the Star Wars prequels, movies that actually DESERVED it, came out?

I dare anyone to go back and watch Temple of Doom and then look me in the eye and tell me that Crystal Skull was anything but par for the course for an Indy flick. No, it wasn't Shakespeare, but neither were the originals.

I do have to disagree with the whole opinions on Indy 4. The alien thing wasn't farfetched, seeing as they've done Holy Grails, Arks filled with demonic face melters, and blood that turns you into a living zombie. OK, now I am sounding like the fanboy they are. :o

Liked the Indy stuff. Didn't like the Cartman stuff.

Of course, I thought Indy 4 was terrible. Matt and Trey's opinion definitely reflected mine, kudos.
