Episode 203: "Poor and Stupid"

The second half of the fourteenth season airs tonight at 10 PM Eastern. Here is the synopsis:
 
I was kind of afarid that they were going to overmilk the whole "poor and stupid" metaphor in this episode, but they really didn't. Since really it was just Cartman who was acting like that and the news crew only claiming other Nascar fans did because of his actions. So yeah it's another case of "Cartman dosen't know what he's talking about and offends people because he likley saw something that said Nascar riders were poor and stupid. Maybe Tallaegda Nights or something along those lines". They also mixed it up with Cartman adopting a stupid accent and cursing out the president and him and butters calling everything ****ing gay for no real reason. Surprisingly they didn't overdo it like they could of actually making it a funny running gag unlike say the whole **** shooting from two years ago. Actually this is probably the best Mid Season Premiere since "Make Love Not Warcraft". It wasn't really the best episode or anything but it was defintley solid. And had some other pluses.

- I liked the fact this one included Kenny in the main plot. Who was just a fan of Nascar who hated Cartman for making people think Nascar was stupid. So in a sense Kenny filled the Kyle role in this episode which is good since hey I don't think Kenny's ever really done that. He also had a bunch of good moments: Cartman calling him out as a fan, Kenny cursing Cartman seeing the news report, Kenny planning on shooting Cartman and not being able to take a gun in and then just jumping on the track (surpirsed Kenny didn't die though. Then again it is nice that they don't give us the obvious Kenny death even in an episode sort of starring him) and Cartman "apologizng" to him at the end.

- The whole Vagacil thing. Really I was worried this would become a very stupid and annoying plot but it only had minimal runtime. Plus Cartman trying a bunch of it and feeling stupid at the store, as well as the creator wanting his wife to constatly use it and annoying her so much she winds up winning the race (would of liked to hear something from her at the end to really stick it to the guy) was a nice twist. honestly they could of easily and have in the past given this twice as much screentime as they did but thankfully they only kept it as a very very minor plot.

And there were a lot of other good gags throughout: Kyle and Stan actually trying to show concern to Cartman until finding out why he felt he wouldn't be a Nascar driver, Cartman giving Butters all his money and then watching two and half men to be stupider, Cartman's excitement at getting his own Nascar and trying to talk Nascar at the pre race rally, the various deaths and car destructions (I guess another reason Nascar gets such a bad rep are the people who love all those sort of things) and Butters stammering at the end which actually made that joke about Cartman wanting the money back better then it should be. I'm glad that for the first time since "The Ring" South Park comes out of the gate on a fairly good episode for the run of seven. I think it's not one everyone will like and it's not a classic but it's defintley enjoyable.
 
The episode was really weak and repetitive. the Joke got old by half the episode. the only thing that held on the episode were the moments with Kenny.
 
So that means it was an episode they worked on for a while. That means it should be of some good quality compared to their 1 week episodes.
 
Pretty weak episode... not too funny and really repetative
also, i was really waiting for Kenny to give Cartman a good kick to the balls, and he never did...
