NOTE ONE: This is the production wise and air wise, the 200th Epsiode of South Park (Unlike the Hundreth Episode, which production wise was 97th).

NOTE TWO: This has been the only solid idea (besides the Tiger Woods ep) for this run of episodes Matt and Trey has since the season started from what I heard.

NOTE THREE: Can you believe it? Two Hundered Episodes! Who ever thought this show would ever get that far really?

Well hope you all enjoy this I'm sure to be Classic Epic ep detaling all past celeberties follies for us once again to Enjoy. Remember to talk about your thoughts on the ep here!

Most likely going to skip this episode tonight and wait until the initial comments and AV Club review come in before I decide whether or not I'll watch it on Thursday. A few reasons why I'm doing this:

1. None of the "milestone multiple of 50" episodes have interested me recently. The Simpsons was pretty much a bland episode that showed its running out of good ideas. The premise of Family Guy's 150th episode feels very "gimmicky" and will lack most of the stuff that made Family Guy interesting in the first place. Don't know what Aqua Teens will have planned for their 100th episode, so that may be a good one. Thus, after seeing the preview clip of tonight's episode, I have a feeling that is going to be another underwhelming "milestone" episode and would rather hear the reviews (and full episode summary) before I jump in.

2. The episode's premise is pretty much a clip show, one of the more lazier ways of doing a "milestone" episode, without the clips.

3. The plot line feels like a rehash of the final episode of Seinfeld, in which the four main characters are put on trail, and all the memorable one-shot characters from the series return to serve as witnesses against them. Given how that wasn't really a great Seinfeld episode to begin with, what makes you think that South Park will hit a home run with that?

4. Personally, the most recent batch of South Park episodes have been very lackluster, with the only one that I felt was good being the one where Randy purposely gets testicular cancer. Given the "gimmicky" premise of tonight's episode, I'm concerned that this episode may follow in the same path most of the previous episodes this season and end up being disappointing IMO.

If you mean the reason: let me rephrase it for you.

Some television shows, when it comes to "milestone" episodes, have a "clip" show (which is basically an episode that uses clips of older episodes) as part of the celebration. When it comes to clip shows to coincide with "milestone" episodes, there's three ways this can be handled:

1. A special could be done to showcase the show and its popularity before or after said "milestone" episode (as seen with Family Guy and the most recent milestone episode of the Simpsons).

2. If it's a sitcom, the "milestone" episode could be an hour long episode split in two halfs: one with the clips, and the other focused on the story (that's what Full House did for its 100th episode).

3. The show can be completely lazy and have the entire "milestone" episode be a clip show (this has happened with Cheers, and was spoofed in the 138th episode of the Simpsons and the 100th episode of the Nostalgia Critic).

Anyways, as I mentioned before, the episodes premise (in which all the celebrities that South Park has mocked during the show's run join together to sue the town) pretty much follows the vein of "milestone clipshow" version 3 (a "milestone" episode that's nothing more than a clip show), but without the show resorting to using clips from previous episodes. Either way, it appeared lame to me.

Very Nostalgic so far.

What does this mean?

Not to nitpick, but I don't find the AV Club the best site to review South Park, they tear every episode apart and their commentors frequently disagree with them in a majority. I love the AV Club, they are a great site and I visit it daily, but sometimes they get a little too "Hipster"-bent with their opinions on popular TV shows or movies.

Back to the topic, I don't think Trey & Matt would ever do a clip show, the closest thing they did to a clip show was back in Season 2 with The City on the Edge of Forever, and that took a unique spin with the idea showing clips of events that didn't happen.

Of course, one reason why I do check their site is because I usually agree with some of the reviews that they do with South Park, although that doesn't mean I disagree with them sometimes (for instance, for last week's episode, while I agreed with them that it wasn't really that great, I would have had it in the C's than a D+).

Just a set up episode. I am a little upset, as last weeks was much better. I am just hoping number 201 is great. Why no "To Be Continued" though. Kinda weird without it.

Ha! I totally knew that they'd bring in Mecha-Streisand. I was actually going to be pissed if they didn't bring her in, and for a while thought that they actually might not, but of course they did. Overall, yeah, this was one of those purposely RIDICULOUSLY over-the-top episodes, and its nowhere near a great or amazing episode, but I have to admit, its definitely a fun fan-service episode for those like me who can appreciate all of the references to previous episodes in the series.
