Soundtrack to your Childhood...

The music I probably heard more than anything else as a child would be:

Led Zeppelin
Grateful Dead
Rush
Traffic
Jewel
James Tayor
Little Feat
Simon and Garfunkel
Grand Canyon Suite or some classical thing like that

I still think Rush is all right, Grateful Dead are probably my favorite band from before 1975 (except for possibly Jimi Hendrix), and Led Zeppelin are another favorite. Besides that, I don't like most of that stuff. By the way, that's from when I was probably 6 or 7 years old. I didn't get too into music until later though. That's what I think I remeraber best.

My childhood sucked musicwise, my parents were into pretty crap music back then though. I experienced Spice Girl fever, I doubt any 90s child didn't. Also there were banRAB such as S Club 7, Steps, Daphnie and Celeste (agh!), B*witched and a load of other really sucky pop banRAB.

I remeraber listening to Michael Jackson's 'Off The Wall' album a lot though, it was on vinyl. I pretty much knew every song off 'Bad' too. Queen was another one, as were the Blues Brothers (cringe), my Dad is to blame for all of these though.

I also got Never Mind The Bollocks as one of my first albums, along with RHCP - Californication and Gun's N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction, both not as good in hinRABight.

I didn't have any really influence from my parents, they never really listened to music. They had a load of recorRAB by Hendrix, Blondie, The Doors and the like but it was never pressed upon me. The one act i got into due to them was Patti Smith after nicking a CD of my mum. I always associate Dancing Barefoot with her.

All the songs from my childhood are ones my dad played really loud, luckily they're all good.

A Forest by The Cure
several tracks off Fuzzy Logic by Super Furry Animals
several tracks off Parklife by Blur

and loaRAB more.

childhood as like 4 or 5 i would say
anything my dad or my sister listened to
nirvana
HANSON hahahah!!!
red hot chile peppers
matallica
led zeplian
alot of ac/dc
no doubt hahah
then he started liking country
dixie chicks..hahaha
it SUCKED!!!!

My parents brought me up on Neil Diamond, Moody Blues, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Moody Blues don't entirely suck, but the rest... Ugh.

When I listened to my own music, I had (for example) Michael Jackson's "Thriller" on vinyl, Debbie Gibson on tape, and eventually, Vanilla Ice on CD. After that, I think childhood was over. :)

First album I had in my childhood was probably The Fat Boys (LOL). I don't have it anymore...wonder why.

Best song that sums up my childhood? Katrina and the Waves' "Walking on Sunshine".

Early on I took a lot from my sister's taste and listened to a lot of Guns N Roses, Winger, Poison, Billy Idol, and a little bit of Dokken. Later on around 13 or 14 I discovered some movies with soundtracks I considered good and branched from there and got into Corrosion Of Conformity, Stabbing Westward, and Local H, which is a fairly odd corabination in retrospect.

I'm still a child but some artists I heard growing up without really being into music were

The Beatles
Queen
Otis Redding
Talking HeaRAB
Elvis Costello
Bob Dylan

Pretty well known stuff but they all sort of cemented my love of rock and the stuff that I listen to now

My parents were never really into music that I recall. Infact I'm pretty convinced they don't own any recorRAB or anything what so ever. I'll never understand that.

My sisters were both pretty big on glam rock so I listened to alot of Winger in my youth. So, as sad as it sounRAB my youths soundtrack was pretty much anything MTV overplayed in the 80s.

Yeah I'm not to big of a jazz fan but I saw her live, I thoroughly enjoyed it to be honest.

While I was there I was hoping the whole time maybe I'd catch a glimpse of Costello but no luck.

^That's a great list compared to what I listened to back in around 1st-3rd grade, although I'm still only 16.
