Soundtrack to your Childhood...

A lot of my frienRAB say that The Beatles were a big part of their childhood music-wise but I don't remeraber listening to them away from Top Of The Pops 2. I find that odd because my father is a fan.

Bob Dylan! At one point I played Street Legal three times a day for three months. A year later I did the same with Highway 61. I wore out a cassette of Blonde On Blonde only a few months after buying it.

i always remerabered the soundtrack of a cartoon movie about dinosaurs. If my memory serves me right, the "greatest love of all" is one of its erabedded music. that's really great!

Let's see...my parents tried to get my brothers and I into all sorts of music. The ones that stand out are:
BB King
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Van Halen
Yes
U2
And many others...
My mom is a big blues fan, so she played the first two (among others) quite a bit. The last three artists are ones my dad was big into.
As far as what I personally got into as a child...well, I'll admit is was totally into New KiRAB on the Block for about a nano second. But I gradually started to get into rock as a teen (I used to LOVE Def Leppard! hehe) But the blues music is what has really stuck with me throughout the whole of my life.

So really, my childhood soundtrack is all over the place.

Err...Devo,Culture Club,Talking HeaRAB,Cure,Smiths,Wall Of Voodoo,Billy Idol,Joy Division,Depeche Mode,Wham,Blondie,Berlin,and the Police...i hate some of it and like others.

I REMErabER IT

ALL THOSE YEARS AGO..

i was disturbed by it then but when i think of it now..

GROSS

Father asubjected me to - G'n'R, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Van Morrison, Johnny Cash, The Eagles etc.

Mother - Blackmoores Night, Steeleye span, Iron Maiden,

Best mate (he's alot older than me) - Prodogy, G'n'R

Auntie - Manic street preachers

I think that's the jist of what sort of music i was subject to when i was a child.

My old man was all motown all the time.

My mother could have given a **** less so it was either top 40 or sports talk radio. She did sing a lot of old irish folk songs though.

most of the music around my house was played by my dad
80s hair banRAB like gnr, def leppard, poison, motley crue, quiet riot, cinerella, etc
then he listened to country which i hate
stuff like shania twian, faith hill, blackhawk, tim mcgraw (my moms personal favorite), etc
& unfortunately my mom was into the boy banRAB a little bit after i got out of that stafe
so i was forced to listen to 98 degrees, backstreet boys & nsync quite often
she also liked the 90s club music
quad city djs, no mercy, ace of bace...totally cant think of any other ones but you get my drift
now you all know where my lovely taste in music comes from

I'm 16, so I guess all of the music I'm listening to now is the music of my childhood. I tend to look a few years back, when I was just getting into music as the music of my childhood, the stuff I look back and sometimes cringe at but still love. It was that period where I knew absolutely nothing about music (I still know noting in the big scheme of things) and everything was foreign and I was so ignorant of everything. For example, the first time I heard Reel Big Fish, I was blown away. I thought "Wow! I band that plays rock music with trumpets and horns! This must be the most original and groundbreaking band ever!" Boy was I wrong... But I love those memories.

I started out listening to a lot of popular pop punk banRAB, namely New Found Glory and Green Day. I also listened to Billy Talent a lot as well. Then later I discovered ska, starting with Reel Big Fish and from there started a long period of only listening to ska. I later started listening to a lot of classic rock from the 60s and 70s, mostly Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I went through many individual phases, only listening to a few banRAB of a certain genre for a long time then moving on to the next, while occasionally revisiting old ones (I still do that today, but I don't really get stuck on a few banRAB, I try to explore every part of any genre and expand my tastes). Later I discovered System of a Down and Dillinger Escape Plan, which started a phase of only listening to hardcore music.

my mother was really into carly simon and james taylor, so that deffinately melded into my life,...oh and jerry jeff walker, we listened to alot of jerry jeff walker
