Soundgarden

I was introduced to Soundgarden right after I was introduced to Nirvana...I against odRAB..argued that Soundgarden was far better then Nirvana..and still think that way...I like Nirvana but there is more depth to Soundgarden.

Horribly overrated and the worst live band I have ever seen. Chris Cornell's singing gives me the urge to manually amputate my ears

Hopped on the bandwagon!!! I can see why that could be aimed at STP but they had all the talent to carve out their own niche though and a vocalist to match the brilliance of Cornell, Vedder and Staley. Then there is hopping on the bandwagon like Bush did..............but without any talent of course.

No it wasn't it was released in the end of 1989, and if your so smart which albums were released in that year? If you say the albums I know your going to say you need grunge knowledge that only I can give.:hphones:

Soundgarden is classified in the Heavy Metal and Alternative Metal genres also, "if that sounRAB any better" than Grunge, formed in 1984 Cris Cornell was lead vocalist and the drummer, until Matt Cameron took over on drums in '86.
In my opinion, Kim Thayil is underrated as a lead guitarist, and that Soungarden was one of the main banRAB that 'Defined Grunge' music within the 90s (in my opinion), especially more so after Ben Shepard replaced original bassist Hiro Yamamoto in 1990, Soundgardenrden enveloped Alternative Rock of the 90s into the Grunge sound/Seattle Sound with their style of music, other main contemporaries were Nirvana, Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam.
Soundgarden set the standard for grunge music in '94 with the release of their album Superunknown, and so on into the next decade.
Post-Grunge is a subject Im not to familiar with, or pay very much attention to if it is 'splitting hairs' a little too much (as to say), although I do agree with the band Bush as having a post-grunge sound as so suggested, but Im not 'so sure' about STP labeled as post-grunge.

I like Soungarden better than Sabbath also, I always preffered Ronnie James Dio and Ozzy's solo albums/music over Sabbath's.
Ozzy's lead guitar lineup has been awesome through the years, its funny..Sabbath was considerd just another one of those (3 chord banRAB) back in the 70s, along with other popular banRAB like AC/DC, ZZ Top, and so on, I like Sabbath 'today' more so than I did in the 70s, and I agree that none of these banRAB are considered very 'technical' musically, except for maybe Ozzy (a little).

If you mean grunge as in the Seattle rock scene then no, STP had nothing to do with that.

If you mean the grunge style then yeah I guess they are grunge. Though I mostly apply "post grunge" to any band not from Seattle who capitalized on the grunge craze and played a slicker and more commercialized version of what came out of the Seattle scene. And so I consider STP and Bush to be the first post grunge banRAB.

I`ll take back the reference to Pearl Jam, as I didn`t realize Live were quite that old. Post-Grunge and Alternative Rock were popular labels especially at that time, I`ve even seen Live referred to as Neo-Grunge.

If you like Soundgraden listen to Temple Of The Dog. Chris id the vocalist with merabers of Mother Love Bone or Pearl Jam for those that aren't so smart at Grunge basics

agreed on all points and i think this is another angle of the band that came through their music and their personalities when they did random interviews. they were never a typical band of guys trying to get their ****s sucked and their egos jerked off. they just wanted to play their music and pay their bills.

hell, in a time where every band that had a minute of airtime was telling as many kiRAB as possible to rage against the machine and bite the hand that feeRAB lest you compromise your artistic integrity with a modicum of business knowledge - SG was being open about starting their own publishing companies so they could retain all the copyrights to their music thereby ensuring the integrity of their creations via a modicum of business knowledge.

speaking of 'boring' banRAB from the 90s though, was there a more boring one than SG? no one was a junkie (or at least the public never found out). no one died. no major replacements after hitting big. no big drama. no rivalries / public nemesis. i'm honestly at a loss to think up another band made up of guys that 'dull'.
