"Soul Eater" Talkback

I figured I should bring this up for those planning on buying this when it eventually gets released

With the revealing of this:

and other reasons, the anime has officially gone the Full Metal Alchemist route and is going off on its own storyline breaking away from the manga.

Will the anime's story be good enough to stand on its own two feet like FMA's was or will it all just fall apart like Rurouni Kenshin's. We'll just to wait and see.

(BTW, 36 was freakin' amazing)

Krona's gender is supposed to be arabiguous. Even now, we still don't know in the manga. I haven't watched episode 20 yet, but screenshots suggest that they've removed Krona's Black Dragon wings. Shame--I really liked Ohkubo's art-style for this chapter. But I'm just being nitpicky.

Part of the reason I like Black Star is because of how abrasive he is. Draw as many Naruto comparisons as you want--Naruto most definitely doesn't have Black Star's unrivaled arrogance/confidence. But that's also what makes him kind of a scary character.

I kinda expected Soul Eater would at some point. Broke away from the manga storyline at the same time as FMA did too, oddly enough.

(P.S., I'm not following the subs, but I kinda saw it coming anyway).

I love this series. So. Freaking. Much.

I'm all caught up finally, and I just can't get over how intelligent Medusa is. She is truly one of the best villains to come around in a long ass time when it comes to Shounen.

Arachne also intrigues me quite a bit. As much as I'd like to see the Shibusen kiRAB face off with her, I'd really like a Medusa vs. Arachne showdown. Medusa would have to win, of course, but I want to see who is more powerful.

Also, something PHW and I have discussed before, any idea on what the stag inside of Tsubaki is?

Actually, guys, episode 37 is going to be mostly filler then it'll be going back into manga territory on episode 38 and 39 (judging from the titles). My guess is Bones wanted a smoother transition from this arc to the next, since I've heard the transition... was rather forced initially. That, and I think it was more of a creative decision to introduce the Majingari (Or Demon Hunter) earlier, as well as to have the fight end on a different note. Yes, Mosquito is still alive.

Potential Soul Eater Manga spoilers -- Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled.
Well actually, in the manga, we do sort of know that Chrona is Medusa's daughter, as that is why I think Maka and Chrona get along so well inside Chrona's head, and after this fight in the outside world.

As far as the edit, making it be a baby dragon instead of a bunny... it makes sense as the reasons Mr. Highwind stated. Can't have her stepping on a bunny. >.> While it's "just anime", we all know people take it a bit too seriously.

As far as Black*Star goes, he's just so awesome. I like how Soul Eater sort of makes fun of those certain Shounen characters (Black*Star and his Naruto-ness, and Death the Kid with his "Sasuke"-like attitude.) Granted Death the Kid isn't NEAR the jackass Sasuke is (but this isn't a Naruto thread, so we won't go into that), Black*Star still carries some of Naruto's personality. That isn't a totally bad thing. While they seem to share the same brain, B*S has a darker background in my opinion, and is a tad more skilled without the help of a 9-tailed beast on the inside.

Death the Kid isn't really like Sasuke in my opinion. Kid's got definite flaws, and he doesn't go around flaunting his power. It's mostly because he's already a Reaper, but he's really strong.

Black Star has some of Naruto's personality, but only in regarRAB to wanting to be the best. Black Star knows that he's strong and he knows he's a badass. If anyone tries to step in his way, even a comrade, he'll definitely be willing to beat them down. With respect to that, his personality is kind of like Sasuke's too.

In defense, Soul Eater has hugged the manga plot for as long as it could, with added subtle differences here and there. After all, the Manga isn't that much farther ahead, realistically. Not a huge time gap that is as it is with Bleach Manga/Anime.

[xspoiler=my old post from 12-10-2008 at 02:36 PM]Hopefully they still add
the clown arc, because they really don't know what the Demon Hunter's capable of yet, so there's still an excuse to use him.
This still feels more satisfying using the most powerful weapon in the series so far on Misquito, since he's gotten the big head way too much now.
and will later on.
It just leaves the fight on a better note than the manga did.[/xspoiler]

So they're deviating severely with episode 38. Ugh. Poor Joe, what have they done to you?

I hope FMA proves that Bones is picking canon material up again with later series so I'll feel better

I totally love Soul Eater. I think its so unique and probably one of the most original animes of the year. Anything that makes me lol has my approval. But i have to say thatthe episode with excaliber was a total wtf nani moment for me. I'm quite curious to see whats gonna happen.

I'm amazed they managed to stick to the Manga plot with the very fast one manga chapter=one episode for this long. I mean, Soul Eater isn't a weekly series last time I checked.

But considering Excalibur is considered Canon, filler doesn't seem too bad right now.

41 continued to diverge from the manga. Hm, I'm really curious to see what direction they take the series in now. Next episode looks like
they're heading to Baba Yaga's castle which does happen in the manga, but looks like the anime is going to do it a different way. Expected of course, but still, I'm curious.
The episode was creepy; that's to be expected when most of the episode is about insanity, but still, creepy. Stein D=

Hah, Maka actually making a basket in basketball. Black Star with the assist

And still loving the ending. Really, really great.

We have now reached the fanservice fight.

Wow, they crammed a lot of stuff into this one.

Hooray, it's the Wolfman! (Lemmingman?)

I agree with Random Curiosity, the customized ending was really choppy.

GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, this show taunts me with it's AWESOMENESS, i've made a commitment to myself to watch it once the english version comes out

which hopefully should be some time in 2009

and when and if they do, my only choice would be this

Bob Carter as Sid
