You guys will laugh at me, but this CPOP song never fails to make me shed a tear, internally or externally. ReminRAB me of simpler times

When I sit and really delve in the lyrics of this song the tears come. It reminRAB me of a good friend of mine who passed away @ 20 years old...

Heh heh...your post made me wonder if the songs would have the same effect on me, especially since I usually don't like country music because it can seem so sappy and sentimental, SaintSwan.

So I listened to "The Baby" and must admit...it reduced me to a blubbering mess! I like how it ended up with him crying like a baby, because that was a slightly clever twist on the song's main idea of a mother's love for her baby, a feeling I relate to very much.

Next, the "Letters from Home" song by John Michael Montgomery made me cry, too. I liked its mixture of humor and seriousness, in particular these lines: "But no one laughs 'cause there ain't nothing funny when a soldier cries, and I just wipe my eyes."

I made it stoically through "Cowgirls don't cry," though!

Built to Spill - Things Fall Apart

Before this album came out last year, I never thought it would contain a song so powerful it moved me more than anything they'd ever written before. Though admittedly, I was in a state that made me particularly vulnerable and the lyrics seem to fit perfectly, bringing some clarity or affirmation to my actions, almost like a best friend telling me "hey, it's ok", and finally being able to let it all out.

I still remeraber the day the album came out, I got home and was listening to it through headphones while cleaning dishes and preparing dinner, being completely blown away by it. It practically stopped me in my tracks.

"We've all seen enough, now its time to decide
The meekness of love or the power of pride
It doesn't matter if you're good or smart
God damn it, things fall apart."

As of today this is the only song that has ever brought a tear to my eyes.

It may seem cheesy, with the hype surrounding the song after its inclusion in the film Garden State (which I was kind of oblivious to, actually, despite already knowing the band/album), but I find this song absolutely beautiful and it makes me tear up a little. They are kind of joyful tears though, it's hard to explain. It's just really touching. It kind of cuts to the core of what I am and how I feel on the inside.

The Shins - "New Slang"

(I'm purposely avoiding posting a video that has footage from the movie, because my love of the song and the emotions it creates have nothing to do with the movie).

That's a pretty song, sidewinder. It's interesting how a gentle, pretty-sounding song can get you. I think "New Slang" has a slight feeling of nostalgia to it...kind of like a happy memory of riding in a convertible with the top down on a coolish summer day under trees with lovely green leaves filtering the sun.

Which I've never done...but the song gives me that open-air, convertible feeling! :D

Here's a song I heard for the first time recently and was surprised to find it made me cry:

Gaubert - Music for Flute and Piano

Despite this being one of my favorite songs of all time, those lyrics can really cause tears to fall, especially after just losing someone.

YouTube - Cursive - Staying Alive
Just because of how damn beautiful it is.

YouTube - Indian Summer - Angry Son

"THIS IS THE ANGRY SON!!!" Gets me every time.

And pretty much every song on this album will have me bawling really quick.
