Song Vs Song.

I went with Portishead, it's an absolutely stellar track. I like me some Hendrix too, but I'm gonna keep it interesting.

Same song Title. Two different artists. which do you prefer and why? I will put a poll up and after a week proffer another pair of tracks. Suggestions are welcome but please don't post actual viRAB or I will just remove them :D I will include no cover versions either.

First pair for your deliberation. Machine Gun.

Unfortunately I like both and like them for different reasons but more thoughts later.

Well, I gave them both a listen and I gotta say... for the message/emotion each of the songs was trying to deliver. Portishead (who've I've never heard of before now actually) is the winner to me. It bothered me at first but once the synth (i think thats what it was?) started playing I realised its a pretty heavy track. Good one. Thanks Jackhammer.

Hendrix. i listened to both and while Portishead's has some artistic merit, Jimi's is just sooo good, from the riff to the overall feel of the song

I may just do this every couple of days instead of once a week. Yeah I think Hendrix will win but it's all a bit of fun and who knows you may hear some new toons along the way!

That Portishead track is actually pretty awesome, I've never really listened to them before but I'll probably download 3rd now.

But it's still Hendrix for me, not even really close in the end. Sure the jam goes on for several minutes too long, but the first four minutes are perfect. One of my favourite Hendrix songs.

Portishead. I'm not wacky about that specific Hendrix song, and the riff from Portishead's Machine Gun is incredible.

I like this weekly thread idea alot, maybe next week you could do Holiday by The Beach Boys, Green Day, Weezer, and Atlas Sound, a song vs. song vs. song vs. song.

I'm sorry but how does a steady drum machine beat overlayed with some nice synthesizers and a female vocal sound like that? I don't think many drunk men can produce that in a band room...

jackhammer, omg, i read this 8 times and I don't know what you're asking me. Do i critique the two performances, or do I draw up what I'd imagine to be the love child of these two acts version of the song its just not clear...

Portis Head.
