Some Help Please

I would like some of your help, im 18 years old, i have no credit, and looking for a phone. I am interested in cricket as no contract and unlimited. I have my daRAB old VX6100 verizon phone, but when i had t-mobile i always used like a treo, or a PDA. I am a huge texter, and like having the internet. I live in 85242 and was wondering your opinions if I should go for cricket. also if someone can direct me somewhere on how to get the VX6100 on cricket. Thanks im pretty savy with the computer, and i modded a razr plenty of times, never delt with CDMA before. Thanks
 
Modding the 6100 should be fairly similar to modding the EnV... There's a sticky thread explaining how to do it.

Yes I'd recommend cricket, absolutely.

If you're used to treo's, there are plenty of PDA's that have been modded to cricket.. THe most popular and easiest is the xv6700/ppc6700... You can buy one on ebay for around $200, and it only takes a few minutes to mod it to cricket with full functionality...
 
As badutahboy said (I was trying to say that but i had to many tabs open and my browser sank.) Cricket would be good for you. They have coverage in your zip code (I checked) and you should be able to Mod an EnV with little to no problems. Which means that you have a very good text messaging phone. Or you could go a step up and go to something like the XV6700 or the Motorola Q.I personally would suggest getting a Smartphone or an enV and not a cricket phone then a smartphone. As then you can go in pay to get a new line of service and be done and ready to go (As long as you flashed everything correctly) Check the stickys and you shouldn't have any problems in getting a phone setup in less than a day or two. Craigslist and eBay are great places to find phones for below retail price. I got my Q from a guy in Scottsdale (Where i live) for 150.00 which is pretty cheap for this good of a phone. So... YES. Cricket is a good choice for you. ALOT better than a prepaid crap phone.
 
from what i've found on google, looks like you could use LG Download and load a prl on the VX6100 easily enough. probably just need the drivers / dll files for that phone.
 
Yeah a buddy of mine got prepaid, and what a waste of money. I been searching Craigslist the past couple days for "cricket" trying to find a phone, I don't really wanna use this basic 6100 phone, I'm used to having better phones, im gonna read more about flashing, etc to get the phone i want on cricket thanks for the replies!!
 
You don't have to search for "Cricket" you can use Verizon phones, Sprint phones, Alltel phones, Qwest phones. and most other CDMA phones without any problems.
 
Yep. If you can stay away with sprint. Sometime's they can be pretty tricky to get WAP on and almost impossible to get MMS on due to the way that Sprint's Power Vision Services works (They don't have an MMS client on the phone. Its web-based)
 
Okay. If i dont wanna do it on my own, could I call one of those advertisements on craigslist that can flash phones and are those real? Like the stores in AZ that do that?
 
Okay ive made the decision im gonna use this VX6100, now. to get it to cricket lol. after its flashed to cricket software i just bring it to the cricket store and they can do it? can someone PM me with some info on how to flash it to cricket info. ive got a data cable
 
You put your MDN and MIN in right? And have a Cricket account (Paid activation, Gotten a phone nuraber.) As he said you must go into a store to do this.
 
You don't need to go in the store if you can do *228 and hear the cricket music. *228 will NOT work until you have an account, but atleast you will know you're looking at a cricket tower. *611 will work once this happens and you don't ever have to visit a store.
