society, culture and condoms?

why is it that people (including myself) find it so hard to buy them? i mean is it the fact that its a kind of intrusion into your private life or is it that everyones a bit embarassed?
this isnt really to solve anything just to get peoples thoughts

I've never bought any, I get embarrassed about everything so I always used to send my partner to get them. As I'm 18, I was able to get quite a lot for free from the sexual health clinic which should mean I wont have to buy any for quite a while :) With me, I think I get embarrassed because I feel like I'm getting judged especially because I don't think I'm very attractive and I think people must think "How is it even possible for her to get laid?". We shouldn't really get embarrassed though, we should be proud that we're practising safe sex.

Sure it can be a little shameful, but the people in the shop sell loads of em.

Plus I'd rather be a little red faced than get HIV, ya know?

Well, its because you are basically saying to the person you are paying that "yes I'm sexually active" and it can be embarrassing if its a female at the register.
It's kinda like a woman sending a guy to the store to buy tampons, it goes against everything in a guy's nature, but you end up doing it anyway to prove to her you are not a weenie or something.

is embarrassing but the people behind the counter serve lots of people and arnt going to remember you and have probably bought some themselves. so i dont mind.
