so is the PS3 that much superior to the Xbox360 to justify the cost difference?

fuck ... i have a "older" HD set

i'll stick with my 360 for now

Its not worth it according to this I read today

in related news ign gave NFS: carbon a 8.2 for 360 and 7.9 for PS3

So far, it seems like the PS3 launch games aren't terribly exciting, except for Resistance of course.

Here's where things really start sucking for early adopters of the PS3... Not only is there a lack of a few must-have games, Need For Speed: Carbon, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Tony Hawk's Project 8 are also on Xbox 360. The disappointing thing is that the PS3 versions of these games fall short compared to the Xbox 360 versions. In the case of Need For Speed and Tony Hawk, they don't look as good (Marvel Ultimate Alliance does run in 1080P though) and all three of them have framerate issues.

Need For Speed is missing some "show off" features that the 360 version has. The 360 version allows you to pause the game at any time and take snapshots. You can then upload those photos online for others to check out. Tony Hawk takes the cake though.... no online play for the PS3 version like the 360 version. Ugh.

then good luck, because sony just announced couple days ago - people with older HD sets, will not be able to scale uo to 1080i ....so you get wonderful standard 480p

as of right now, not even close, maybe in a year, but by then the 360 will be cheaper yet. I don't think the PS3 will ever be worth the extra money.

real difference is the blu-ray player at a cheaper cost.
You can get the xbox hd-dvd player, but that'll put it in the same cost as a ps3, so no difference there imo
But i'm waiting for all the good games to come out before I jump in
ie. final fantasy, mgs, etc

power wise, proberbly not. But the xbox is crippled by its DVD drive. Not enough room to future proof it (or even do current gen titles properly).
