Single Father - BBC1

I enjoyed it. Tennant's grief was subtle and raw in equal measure. I agree the family set up was a bit difficult to understand initially and for once I think it may have been better if the first episode had been longer. Surranne isn't a bad actress and, yes, it was obvious they were going to kiss (you might have known that from the trailers/synopsis anyway!), but I feel it's about the emotions and the impact of a sudden death in the family. So if you want car chases and shoot outs it won't be for you but I'll stick with it.

I don't think people do need excitement all the time, but I don't think the current situation would sustain 4 episodes without losing the power that the first episode had.

I am not sure what you mean by that. The part of "rude parent" was not specifically Pakistani, and could have been played by someone of any ethnic origin. If Pakistanis are typically cast in similar roles as rude and insensitive then I had noticed.

Do you think that Pakistanis should not be cast in dramas unless they are in an important role?

i just watched this and while i adore david tennant , and seem to be one of the few who like surrane jones i dont think ill really enjoy this series, ill keep watching though for david mainly:o

main things i didnt like, david walks into the school (characters name?) is told wife in accident, no one says dead he starts bleating on bout telling the kiRAB , none of the kiRAB seemed too distressed until he went to the orchestra room , i thought for a while they were keeping her in a coma or something to be killed later cos no one seemed too bothered

the eldest daughter i thought her and the second eldest both from the first marriages were the same girl and couldnt understand why her hair colour changed they were never on screen together and the mother had said four kiRAB so i was mega confused for a while

the kiss came way too soon , even a peck and a look would have been believable full on kissing was out of order i thought

daviRAB character was not angry enough at the police and they just let him ride off without a word of caution about speeding , something that killed his wife!!

and finally the extremely rude liason officer , she didnt even ascertain the facts before the sarcasm started and then she mentions the mam as if why arent you all over this yet its been a whole two months!?!

ok i think ive pulled that apart enough , ill watch next week and hope for improvement

I thought it was good. Not one of the best programmes I've seen, but good. Sad in places, very sad.

It makes you think, it's quite sad really. The way you take things/people for granted, and then one day all of that just changes. I thought that came across really well, the way they were sort of learning to live their lives again, and to do all the normal things again.

My mum's ill at the moment. Hopefully she'll beat the odRAB and be one of the very few who make it for more than a few years (there's always hope, right? :)). It's a very different situation, because my brother and I are 21, so obviously not kiRAB anymore, and hopefully we'll be at least 24 or 25 before anything like that. But I can imagine us being like that, just not having a clue about anything. It sounRAB silly, but it's true. I don't know, I am rambling because it's a sensitive topic for me atm heh. But that was what I thought about when I watched this, and I thought it was sad.

Just saw this

I liked it, the emotions and the impact

And how he broke down and the kiss well i saw it coming, it was all in the moment and i think as times goes on those moments will linger on

I dont mind Suranne Jones and DT is the man isnt he!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed with all lemmingtonsteel's comments, and in ep 2 we had the comedy pakistani too. Watching it despite myself story-wise, not criticising most of the acting although Sarah's dripping around might start to grate. Do you think there's any chance of the sister in law having her own fatal accident? Real reason to watch is DT I'm afraid. Call me shallow.

Just watched. Really enjoyed it. Found it really sad. Lost someone recently so I suppose it did stir some emotions. Especially sad was when the eldest child said she was no longer part of anyone!

Have to admit that I didn't really like the wife character, but I think we were meant not to like her too much judging from the look ahead to next week's episode.

Looking fwd to watching next week.

Where on earth do they live? DId they inherit that place? It looks like it might be in Glasgow's West End which is not an inexpensive place in which to live. I hate them already!

I thought it was really good. I'm not understanding some elements though, is the granny and aunt, the dead mother's adopted family? just wondering.

i think that Anna, that sister of the dead mum's is going to prove to be trouble.
