That's missing the point entirely. Do you think those people would be rich without government funded roaRAB for them to utilize to make money? Without government funded police force to protect their earnings from fellow countrymen who would steal and violate them? Fire protection to protect from either the destruction of their own assets or the assets of others which they can profit from? Without the military to protect from foreign aggressors? Educations to have an educated work force to either work for them or to buy from them?

To act like the government does nothing for these people to make money is incredibly retarded.
 
I also thinks it's incredibly hilarious how some people act like people who aren't well off are only so because of being stupid or lazy. As if there are never unforeseeable circumstances that can put people in shitty situations, and since they can point to other people that didn't have that happen, and had a bit of good luck on their side, it's easy to just say "Look, that person did it, you can too!"

That's not to say people get rich because of good luck, but if you don't think a LOT Of those people who are well off could easily be in the gutter had their luck played out just a bit differently, you're delusional. Likewise, if you don't think a lot of people who are poor could be doing pretty damn well for themselves right now if their luck had played out just a bit differently, you're delusional.

Everyone just gets some image of lazy, unmotivated, useless people just riding on government handouts and thinks that's what people want to keep feeding when they talk about how ridiculous the wealth gap is in this country.
 
I used to be naive about this stuff too, but now I've learned that companies WILL try to screw anybody to make a profit. If government puts ANY tax or obligation onto them, they will raise prices to customers, or just find a way around it. Or they just lay off people.

But smaller businesses get screwed over because they aren't big enough to avoid those problems.
 
There's way too much uncertainty with the US government and regulation that everyone is holding onto their money.

Yes, we desperately need to shrink our government expenditures and dependence on government jobs/resources.

But, I don't see why Kobe Bryant, Matt Damon, Steve Jobs, GE, McDonalRAB, Chase Bank and others can't incur a tax increase too.

Tax increases and eliminating tax write-oRAB on middle to upper-middle class of the country is what has a profound effect on consumer spending and the greater economy as a whole.
 
It doesn't even entirely have to be about conservaderps and liberals, just the fact people are supporting individuals contrary to their own interests because of value judgements. If you make $25k a year, and love guns, why in God's name would you support a big business politician republican or democrat. Because he rolls his sleeves up?
 
yeah, but anyone even semi successful would rather use that 15% of their pay for their own uses. It's only the poor that really care about social security.
