I see you have everything in alphabetical order. I try to do the same, but in the case of Macross and Tenchi Muyo, I try to put those in logical chronological order as they occured in the storyline.

Alas, collections at AnimeonDVD.com, mentioned by Steventheeunuch, far outclass mine. As for organizing my collection, I generally try to keep things together - i.e. Ah! My Goddess movie and Oh! My Goddess OVAs. I keep the box sets separately for logistics reasons (they fit on the shelf better together). Though I just noticed that I have Crest and Banner of the stars separated - I guess I'll fix that next time I move things around.

Little update with new release.

The latest DBZ vol is included, but the main focus of the update is the GITS:2nd GIG Vol 1 that was just released from Bandai, located next to the first season collectors tin.

Here's a look at the box and the OST:2 included as the bonus.

A look at the limited collectors Tin for the 2 DVDs

A look at the back of the tin

Finally a look at the inside

The box that the set comes in is the same as all of the other special editions, but the tin that holds the two DVDs is really nice IMO. It's a little odd to hold two DVDs in the spot that usualy just one stays, and it lets the volume stand out from the rest of the shelf.

Any plans on replacing that bootleg collection of the Tenchi TV, OVA and movies with the real thing?

No that will be to expensive and I would rather buy gundam destiny when it comes out. I bought that with no knowledge of anime so I didn't know what bootlegs were.

I've been wanting to do this for a while.

That tall shelf on the top right is all video games (Xbox, GCN, DC, Saturn, PSX, PS2), not anime.

Now, people have heard me mention that I'm a DBZ fan and that I bought all of the tapes as they were released, but looking at the pictures you don't see many DBZ tapes. Well that long case on the floor on the right is double deep and behind everything you see there is a DBZ tape. And those VHS cases in the middle on the right are full.

And of course it's still growing.

I noticed that you have the Ah! My Goddess movie before the OVA's when it should be the other way around.

Box sets usually stand pretty good on their own. I don't know the climate where you are at, but it has been my experience that you should stand DVDs and CDs on their bottom edges (as your others are) to avoid warping due to heat/humidity.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get all of mine together in one spot. Maybe I'll do multiple pictures?

Uh, IanC why do your .hack\\Sign dvds look like bootlegs?

Why do they look like bootlegs? They're the legitimate releases. If they were bootlegs, they'd only be in one package, plus I recognise the spines.

Yeah, they are the offical UK release (2 vols to go IIRC)
Most of my anime dvds are UK releases, But for certain titles i either can't wait (ROD the TV, though im going to pick it up when it comes out in the UK, i like the show that much!), or they, for some reason, don't seem to be licensed for UK release. Sounds silly, but id rather support the local companies ya know?

I put the Oh My Goddess! OVAs after the Ah! My Goddess movie too, since I'm just arranging them by the American title, for the most part.

Kosuke Fujishima prefers "Oh" to "Ah", according to AnimEigo anyway.

Wow.....That's alot. - -;
I wish I had alot of anime, but I collect more manga than anime...

BTW, I totally love your black shelf, Emerje! XD

I disagree about the "very much." A few years ago, yes, now, no. When I can go to BestBuy and find four solid shelving sections of anime that almost equal what Newbury Comics offers, I'd say someone's making a lot of money. Not only that, but the anime section at BestBuy is always crowded with people ready to spend money. Been to Barnes & Noble lately? Check out the manga, which outstrips the comic book section by a long shot. (btw, this is a GREAT place to read lots of manga for free before deciding what series to pick up!!)

I fervently hope that prices on anime drop in the near future, or at least some bargain bin types of things start cropping up. Why do I have to pay $30 for the first Vampire Hunter D film (nevermind for the second, which was released in the U.S. theaters)? It's criminal! I'd still be annoyed even if I had lots of cash to spend on my anime.

I finally remembered to take a picture of my newer setup. All the artboxes with the spine facing out are the ones with only one DVD in them ^w^'.. I still need to add to them..

I tried to put artboxes in priority of shelf space, so most of my single volumes are stacked horizontally.

First Shelf
Second Shelf
Third Shelf
Fourth Shelf
Trigun LE set #1 & Steamboy collector's box
Manga

Or, you can look at the complete list of my collection. Most of the DVDs on the shelves are in alphabetical order.

I also have various soundtracks above the manga, but about half of them are bootlegs, so I don't see the point in showing them .

EDIT: Turned the images into links to kill loading time for you dial-up users ;) and also added My Anime Collection link.

It somehow seems wrong that one can buy a newly released hollywood movie whose actors are being paid mega-millions for less than $20 and yet one has to fork over much more than this for three 26-minute animated episodes that may or may not be anything outstanding. Just saying, it seems wrong. Please don't argue, I'm just complaining.

But I can buy a lot of new anime DVDs with 4 or 5 episodes on them for less than $30 Canadian now, which, until recently, came out to less than $20 American. Just because the MSRP for the vast majority of anime DVDs is $30 doesn't mean that's what you'll be paying.

Despite how much anime has grown, relatively speaking, anime is still very much a niche market where each volume of even the most successful anime series on DVD sell maybe 10% of what, say, Family Guy sells on DVD (and an even smaller percentage compared to the really successful Hollywood films), so simple economics of scale dictates that you will pay more per episode to see the adventures of Ran Kotobuki than you would to see the adventures of Peter Griffin or Hank Hill.
