Should there be a national ID?

Having a law declared unconstitutional by the ninth circuit court is rather akin to a blind referee calling a penalty during a football game. You can generally expect both to be reversed and for very similar reasons.

Let's get back to the issue of a national ID. What does the DOMA of 1996 have to do with the comportment of a national identification card to the United States Constitution?

In 1986 it was made a point of law that the federal government may never, under any circumstances, maintain any sort of registry of firearms or firearm owners.

However states such as New York and California have such registries in place. They can get away with it where the federal government can't.

Explain that one away.

Hi Mutz, are you back in the States? You've been absent too long for my taste. Even though we didn't always agree, I enjoyed your posts and writing style. Weren't you in Afghanistan? :xgood:
