Should I quit the cinema and turn to BluRay?

Hi,

Since last August, I have been going to the cinema on my own every weekend to watch almost every new film.

Some weekenRAB I watch up to 5 new films that were out that week.

It costs me about

This argument is no different to 'shall I stick to DVRAB?' really. There's a difference in picture quality but I assume that you can't fit a cinema sized screen in your house, Unless of course, you've got an HD projector. Food is not a necessity when you see a film though, surely?

My closest Cineworld is in Burton and I have tried it out. Unfortunately it takes me 45 minutes to drive there, and 45 minutes back, whereas my local cinema (Odeon) is a 5 minute drive. I did my calculations and would save about

For me, nothing can beat going to the cinema. I'm lucky enough to have a Cineworld here in Glasgow with 18 screeens, all with digital sound, and really, really comfy chairs. when the lights go down and everyone shuts up, you can't beat seeing films on a massive screen. For instance, you could imagine watching There Will Be Blood on anything but a cinema screen?

Maybe you should reduce the number of films you're going to each week. I go to see about two films a week, but if there isn't anything average to good on (three stars or over in most reviews) then I won't go and see it - it's just a waste of money.

Also, I'm one of those proud people who refuses to buy the food in the cinema and bring my own - a bag of sweet chilli sensations and a bottle of coke -

I have to agree with craig-maclellan as its cinema for me as well because of the Cineworld Ulimited card. I bring my own food along in my bag and I never been searched. Although I tend to avoid evening screenings as I either after work or on the weekend during the day. Sometimes I go on my own but I also have cinema days with my frienRAB who also have ulimited carRAB and we usually watch 2 or 3 films in day which makes it well worth it. I must see on average about 5 films a month which makes it well worth it with the card!

I actually said on average I watch 5 films a month not a week. As I dont think there are 5 films a week released!
That is over a year as of cause over the summer time blockbuster period I see more than 5 a month but other times of the year less. However I do go and see a variety of films as it always good to try something different!

The reason I mention Bluray instead of DVD is the high definition aspect. I have a 32inch LCD HD Ready TV in my room and have Sky HD with Sky Movies HD, and the quality is fantastic, far better than the cinema. Yeah, the cinema has a much bigger screen, but the quality is far from High Definition. The difference between DVD and Sky HD is massive, so the difference between DVD and Bluray will be too, if not more so.

I usually watch 2-3 movies on the Saturday (approx 10:30, 13:00, 15:00), then another 2 on sunday, depending on the number of new movies out.

Last weekend, i watched Vantage Point, The other boleyn girl, The game plan, and Diary of the dead.

I do tend to watch every new movie that comes out, although there has been the odd one that I decided not to bother with, such as the Bee Movie, The Bank Job and a few others.

This coming weekend my cinema has 4 new movies out (10,000 BC, Horton hears a who, The Cottage, The Spiderwick Chronicles). I have decided to only watch two of them this weekend however.

They are:
The Cottage
The Spiderwick Chronicles

Im not going to watch Horton hears a who because I don't think it is my type of movie. People have been telling me how good 10,000BC looks, but after watching the trailor, it does not give me an idea of what the movie is about, or it's story, it just seems like chaos.

I love romantic/romcom movies, feel good movies, action movies, adventure movies, horror movies, family movies but not really cartoon movies (bee movie)

PS. Is it Movie or Film in the UK, I can never remember :)
