So I went on vacation for thanksgiving to Guatemala, I had unlocked my 8120 earlier that month so I could use a local sim card when I got there.

When I got to Guatemala I used my phone 5 times with about a total of 5 minutes. I kept getting emails and txt messages but I didn't open them, didn't want to get charged, or so I thought.

So I put a sim card that same night, and store my Tmo sim and was happy!

Then today when my new bill shows up on the website I see, $281.99!!!

My usual bill is around 135 with taxes.
So I called Tmo cs and ask what the problem was and why my bill was so high!

Well it seems my initial request to add international calling for $4.99 - so I could get the .26 cents per minute rate was never added and they were charging me $1.49 per minutes!

After about an hour on the phone with them they ended up only waiving $56 dollars but said they would not waive the other $60 because I was roaming while in guatemala for 30 minutes
$2.00 a minute!!!

To say the least, I am pissed!!! And if I cancel my line - I have 3 lines in my account- I have to pay the etf.

I'm really thinking of just dropping all the add-ons and leaving at the minimum and go to Att or Verizon!

Tmo customer service has become so low now, they promise to call you in an hour or two and never do! They are becoming to shady!

I think that after 2 and half years with them im going to call it quits on them.

man that sucks that you are having such a rough time with your provider...
hope you get it all resolved satisfactorily.

Sucks to hear that. I plan on taking a trip to Guatemala as well. (New Years Eve) I called CS and asked what I could have put on my phone, that won't charge that much, and was suggested to add on international email services for six bucks. Just going to do that to inform everyone I know that I am still alive!!!!!

Yeah I am getting tried of T-Mobile as well, For some strange reason last month my minutes decided to reset, and customer care could not understand why. I was over my minutes and using my bonus minutes to see if it could make me thrught the month. well customer care decided to tell me that i have only used about 150 minutes or so. (Sigh)

Monday I am switching to sprint, I can get the blackberry Curve for $48.00 with a new activation, and the everything 450 plan for like $50.00 a month. Bye Bye t-mobile, sprint here I come...

My opinion, you should come to ATT, i live in NYC, but i travel to the UK a lot, of course before i left i did the same thing you guys did, i called Att to find out if i'm going to the UK what will be the charges for using my phone, there, they told me all you have to do is get an international plan for the duration your there, pay for that, and before you come back to the states, give us a call and we'll send you a bill for the time used, and then i'll have my old plan for the US reinstated..now thats why i love Att...

Before you give up on them follow the Cowboy's advice. Try once or twice more to get a better resolution. They have a record of your original call/request and can do something about it if they will.

If you move to another carrier, do it AFTER trying to resolve this issue with your current one. Times are tough and IMO NO carrier wants to lose a long-term subscriber. It's money out of their pocket. Good luck!

just remember to be courteous,
I know your really peeved about this whole situation but heed my advice.
I work in retail and if there is a customer who wants your help with whatever their problem is and they are completely cool and relaxed about everything, I'm way more apt to go that extra mile for that person.
where , on the other hand, if that customer is trying to be a complete AS* and wants to do nothing more then yell until the situation is resolved. I would do as little as possible to at least get them out of my face.

I'm sure you are a calm and even headed sort of person I'm just saying, it's ALWAYS helped me out of sticky situations

Serviico, follow the advice here, they are all right.

Be courteous, ask to speak with supervisors or managers. Also if I may add, take notes. Write down who you speak to, duration, time- any details you can. They are taking notes on their end and are looking for inconsistencies with your story. Keep track of their actions and keep your facts organized.

DWAINE12- out of curiousity, I travel a bit myself to Europe and I was curious what kind of fees are you being charged while in London? I recall I was charged more for spending a week in California than spending 4 days in London. (TMO charged me roaming fees in Cali)

oh when i arrived in Liverpool, what happaned was my Bold went blank, mean there was no signal, it said SOS, then i saw the signal bars, so i called them and they told me i'm all set to go, and yes ur right i've been to Cali, the fees are crazy, honestly on a monthly basis, my wife and I usually pay around $110. for the both of our Phones, but in England if i remember, it was something like $130.00 which really isn't that bad...i think???

andrewd: switching to Sprint? Need to take a look at the serious problems they're having financially.
SeRViiCiiO: Stackers have otlined course to take...further attempts to achieve a greater reduction of the bill with Tmo, and sticking with them until contract time, is the route to go! Assuming you'd pay the cancellation costs on three lines, that amount is far greater than the amount in dispute

Berry has a good point, but i know what kinda crazy people they (T mobile) can be, there was a time, when they want to cut my service for a dollar.....a dollar dude.wow, so that's when i just forget it and just joined (at the time cingular) ATT, i could no't be happier now, hey and another thing...Never had a drop call with ATT..

I spent the last year working for sprint, I know of the troubles they are having and I know of the effort they have put in to get the company back on track.

there talk/text/date plan can really save me money.
450 minutes and unlimited everything else for $50.00 a month. Yeah I will be switching bye bye t-mobile and my $75.00 monthly bill.
