...year off? i am about to finish my gen ed and i am thinking of taking a year because i don't really know what i want to do, but my parents are threatening not to help me pay for school if i take the year off (if i take the year off i plan to join americorps, a volunteer organization) what should i do. (i know they really don't want me to join)

i feel that i can't talk to my siblings or friends because they all think i shouldn't do it.
 
go for a foreign exchange program. you learn a new language and culture. helps you grow up and know what you want to do. is not a waste of time at all.
 
I read a neat new article about when people don't know what to study, they take a year off between high school and college, but not to do nothing, but to take a course or a little class that can be an interest or something.
I still don't know what I'm going to study, but I've decided I'm going to take a year off to take a photography course.
