anyone remember that thread that someone posted about "something just happened to the leak here's the feed" then it went to only bubbles? yea, someone recorded what happened:
http://monkeyfister.blogspot.com/

She was saying that if the device was in widespread use in the industry, and generally accepted to be a part of the multifaceted series of fail safe measures used, then it likely shouldn't have been written off as "unproven" because the oil industry didn't want to pay for it.

It makes every bit as much sense as "Who knows if these valves work? A war on drugs doesn't!"

why do you spend all your time thinking about something you have absolutely no control over?

you're right, because thats not what i said at all.

what i meant by my comparison with the war on drugs is just b/c governments around the world do something, doesn't make it "proven" in the field

Why do some countries mandate that rigs have them, and some companies choose to fork over half a million for a device, if it is really all that "unproven"?

Or is the US essentially God, and what their experts decide is clearly what is right.

i'm not pro BP or oil spill (if thats possible) but all sides should be considered

right, and there is a distinct difference between "written off as unproven because the oil industry didn't want to pay for it" and "the oil industry didn't want to pay for it BECAUSE it was written off as unproven."

nah, a quick google search would prove me right, i think it's just the effort is lacking because i am.

You dont think its possible that they are saying that they "aren't proven", even though they clearly must be shown to be somewhat useful since they are required in other countries, and some companies use them even though they aren't required when drilling in the US, just so they dont look so fucking bad?

Americans.

him and george w bush are fucking this country up..we need a good leader like sarah palin to run it

dude, i've been drinking.

no, nothing should be written off as "unproven" just because someone doesn't want to pay for it. none of us have the scientific test results on these "failsafe" measures, so no one can be sure that they work. It sounds to me like there are a lot of countries who demand it be in their waters. Why?
