Seth says it's time for a Family Guy big screen adventure

Because obviously, there's not going to be a single moment when it's not a cutaway.

In fact, there's not going to be any "REMEMBER THAT TIME", no, it's just going to be cutaway after cutaway after cutaway. Like Robot Chicken.

And who says that's how they're going to do it? Didn't a lot of people say the Beavis and butt-head movie would suck without the music videos? And I remember that one turning okay.

Jut because the show generally relies on cutaways doesn't mean that a movie has to turn out that way. I think the FG staff is capable of some really great things, and I can't imagine a theatrical feature not being entertaining at the very least.

It's getting tiring to see every single Family Guy thread filled with quick comments about how much the show "sucks" today. Really tiring.

Okay, my official predictions:

1. Announced that it's officially in production in late summer 2009 to boost ratings for the eighth season.
2. Teaser trailer is shown in front of an R-rated comedy in summer of 2010. Will be released July 29, 2011. Yes, that's the same weekend as The Simpsons Movie. Official title? Family Guy: The Movie. Seth wanted to do something creative with the title, but Aqua Teen Hunger Force already beat him to it.
3. Film will be R-rated despite constant objections from Fox. As a result, some cheesy drama chick flick will be released on the same day. The comparisons to The Simpsons Movie grow even stronger.
4. The film will be a musical, so people will stop comparing it to Simpsons, and start comparing it to South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. South Park, inevitably despite being 12 years older, will win all fan arguments.
5. There will be little cutaway jokes. This will piss off many college students.
6. There will be a few cutaway jokes, including an ultra-mega-extended one featuring the most epic Peter/Chicken fight ever. This will piss off everybody else.
7. Critics will be divided. Some will laugh their butts off, and some will be appalled by how its possibly the worst looking animated movie ever next to "Teacher's Pet".
8. Herbert will actually have a scene where he has his way with some young feller. Seth thinks this is the "Bart's penis" of Family Guy: The Movie. The ushers cleaning up the vomit in the aisles beg to differ.
9. Meg is killed off. In the first scene. And by "first scene", I mean opening credits. The movie opens with her standing on-screen, and "20th Century Fox Presents" drops in and crushes her to death. Mila Kunis, however, still gets a credit.
10. Stewie will officially come out of the closet. People surprised: zero. This includes those who have never seen Family Guy and were dragged to the movie by their friends.
11. We will finally see Lois officially naked. Twice, no three times.
12. Brian will encounter every drug known to man. And he and Stewie get drunk together at least once.
13. The plot will probably be complex enough to stretch out to two hours long, but Seth will cram it into 85 minutes. Wait...no, reverse that.
14. It will reach #4 on the IMDB Top 250 list within three days. Thread titles: "NOT THAT FUNNY AND SUCKS!!!", "#4?! NO ******* WAY!!!" and "BESIDES CLEVELAND, THIS FILM IS RACIST!!!"
15. It will gross approximately 35 million dollars on its opening weekend. It will fail to even reach 75 million, but it will make an amazing figure on DVD/Blu-Ray.
16. Oh, and it will parody every movie set to debut that summer. Because then it would be timeless.

And those are my Family Guy movie predictions...

Same here. I went to the theatre and paid 8 bucks to see the Simpsons movie. I also rented the DVD and am thinking about buying it. I will not be doing the same for Family Guy. I could not possibly care less about any movie based on that show.

Of course there's a difference between having a negative opinion (of a Family Guy episode you may not have liked for example) and tearing the bejeezus out of a movie that's still just a thought in someone's head.

I don't mind a negative opinion. In fact, I'm full of them. What I object to is every thread with the words "Family" and "Guy" in them being an open invite for every hater on this forum to put in an appearance just to tell us how much they hate the show. I don't like Avatar (for example) but you don't see me hanging out in the Nick forums popping up in every Avatar thread this week going on and on about why I don't like the show.

Well, I can't say I look forward to it, but if at least half of the plot is a "Road to _____" plot with Stewie and Brian, I think I'd be game. Who knows, maybe they can pull it off.

...well, probably not, but hey, it's worth a shot.

Hey I'm for this. Want Stewie and Brian and Peter to get big parts though. LOL I can see Seth kill off Meg right off, just doesn't like her

It's not that Seth doesn't like Meg, per se, it's just that he and the rest of the FG writers don't know what else to do with her, besides treat her like the scum you scrape off of tomato soup.

Interesting. If they do make a Family Guy movie, I'll go and see it. Surely they could pull something off. I mean, look at how great the Simpsons movie was, yet the series was losing it's touch.

I'm not one of the "Family Guy sucks now!" people. I still watch FG from time to time, but I'm not so into the show that I'd be willing to spend 8 of my dollars to see Family Guy on the big screen for more than an hour. It's like Aqua Teen Hunger Force in that regard; it was OK in 12 minute installments, but a 90 minute "story" with those characters was just too much. I don't hate FG, mind you, I just feel that FG, like many things in life, is best taken in small doses.

Your Family Guy "movie":

-Stewie has gay sex
-Brian eggs an evil Republican/tries to bang Lois once and for all
-Lois works at a strip club
-45 minute fight with the giant chicken
-Gratuitous Meg bashing
-Herbert kidnaps and rapes Chris
-Flashbacks last forever
-Half the audience wants their money back

THE END

Reading through this thread, I think I might as well widely reveal a project I've been working on in secret for a while now.

Through a series of connections that I have (my uncle knows a few people on the "Family Guy" staff, including Seth MacFarlane himself), I've begun to seriously work on submitting a script or two to the show, in the hopes of becoming a writer. And should that happen, I hope to get on board before the movie goes into production. I have ideas for this show, ideas that would hopefully restore some of the likability it had years ago that many people claim is now gone, and if I can get my foot in the door, maybe I can bring that sensibility to the feature film.

The movie would be a huge deal, something that defines the show and introduces it to an audience that might not watch it otherwise. And if I can contribute my ideas to the movie, maybe I can ensure that it doesn't embody everyone's worst fears of what it might turn out to be. I don't want the movie to be a disjointed plot full of lengthy cutaways, character destruction, and gratuitous vulgarity, but despite what some folks are saying, I think it's very very plausible that they'd actually do that. If there's one thing I've picked up from analyzing this show's evolution, it's that the writers no longer take their jobs seriously - they're content to put anything on the screen because they know it'll make money either way. This show has wasted its potential for over three years, and if I can get into that writer's room, I would stop at nothing to turn things around.

I don't want to sound arrogant. I don't want to make it sound like I intend to singlehandedly turn "Family Guy" into a brilliant show. But thanks to my family's connections to the staff, I think my plight is certainly plausible, and if I can join the crew, I have a better chance of making them aware of the truth - that is, while there are a lot of fans out there who like what they're doing, there are also a lot of people who hate it.

Don't you have to be a member of the writers guild to be able to submit a script to a television show, regardless of connections? That's what I always assumed.

Sounds like you've got some great ideas. But I wouldn't get my hopes up, at least not yet. Keep us posted.
