Seth MacFarlane to Reboot The Flintstones

If Seth MacFarlane is rebooting The Flintstones, I wonder if he's even considering Jeff Bergman(Fred), Tress MacNeille(Wilma), Frank Welker(Barney) and B.J. Ward(Betty) for his forthcoming incarnation? I don't know what the rest of you think, but in my opinion, I don't think The Flintstones would work, nowadays, without these four actors present.

I love Baby Blues, and animated comedies like that and King of the Hill I genuinely miss, so if Seth does this right then I'll thoroughly support him.

I've just heard about it, but since Jeff Bergman(Fred), Tress MacNeille(Wilma), Frank Welker(Barney) and B.J. Ward(Betty) are the primary voices of the characters, I wonder of Seth MacFarlane is even considering these four actors for those roles? I don't think The Flintstones would work, nowadays, without these four actors present.

I take it you didn't enjoy The Flintstones on the Rocks.

I'm sure Seth and co. will get whoever think think is best. But Seth is most likely going to do Fred's voice.

Lest we forget that The Flintstones may have been the primary template for Family Guy as well as Matt Groening's Simpsons franchise. MacFarlane's attachment is so [adult swim] can land the repurposing rights and add it to the block they already have with FG & American Dad.

If it's another variant on FG, though, nothing good can come out of this. MacFarlane had better remember the merchandising deals the Flintstones have with Kraft (Post) & Bayer....

I'm not going to panic over this, I enjoy MacFarlane's work (I know on this site I'm a minority). I have a good feeling he'll handle the series well, but it won't be the original. The original wouldn't work in today's society.

Even though I'm not a Hanna-Barbara fan, but I find it rather questionable on Seth being all people to reboot the flintstones. I think John K's pitches of Hanna-barbara are more likely to be enjoyable from what were about to get.

Interesting. Seth started off at Hanna-Barbera and from what I understand, seems to have a big appreciation for The Flintstones, as well as other classics they're responsible for. I've also been thinking that after the success of the new Scooby and Looney Tunes shows, as well as the hype for the upcoming Thundercats series, that a new Flintstones show should be next.

I honestly think he has the potential to make something very good out of this if he sticks to the characteristics and charm of the original series and leave the random pop culture references and lack of likable characters from his own series behind. It's entirely possible, but I can see why you all seem so unsure about it.

Doesn't Fox have enough animated dysfunctional family sitcoms as it is?

I'm not going to pray for its success or failure, but I would feel a little better if it had been pitched to Cartoon Network instead.

Fred: Ah man this worse then the time when.... (random cutaway gag)

but seriously I'm going to keep an open mind about this to an extent and see how the first few episodes are. Who knows maybe it'll be really great.

That doesn't mean people cannot express their lack of appreciation for the news at hand and why they feel that way (which people have done quite well). It's an internet message board, apples and oranges are going to cross paths.
