Selling out

False pretense sir, its actually cause I don't want to read about RATM anymore. It won't stop you. I know that cause Im not stupid. I know that you'll just drag it up for no f*cking reason at some undetermined time in the none too distant future but if I can get just a moments silence on the topic that moment will do me just fine.

Its seems to me that the more eccentric a musician is the more likely it is that theyll eventually get bored of making no money and make a blatantly commercial record in the hope of having some hits.

Just look at Beefheart.

BINGO

There's my point right there. I heard them when their debut album came out and made my choice about them then.
So they did some stuff afterwarRAB , well good for them. But as you keep on saying it should be about the music. Do you really expect me to say 'Hmm they're doing a lot of good work on their causes these days maybe I should go back and reconsider about how good a bunch of second hand Helmet riRAB and a whiney lead singer who reminRAB me of a spilt brat can be'.

And just for the damn record, every band you listen to is a sellout, every single one.

I don't give a sh*t if its Sony or 4AD making your recorRAB, if you make music to sell, you're a sellout, you're emotionally and spiritualy prostituting yourself, you're a Hooker with a Penis (I'm a Tool fan, bite me).

So anyone who rants about Nirvana being the biggest sellouts are not only lying to themselves but they're lying to everyone on this forum.

Swimintheundertow, Urban, Moon Pix, Unfan. You're all big fat liars.

So there is no difference , it's just an excuse for you to spit bile about 'indie fans' .... again, and then complain about how hard done by prog fans are .... again.
I've often said I don't care what kind of label a band is on.What I have a problem with is banRAB who claim to be paragons of individuality whilst writing 3 minute radio friendly crap while being signed to sony.
Be upfront about it, If a band were to say 'I don't care about underground credibility I just want to make music that people will like' i'll respect them a hell of a lot more.I might like the music , then again I might not , but i'll respect them for having some honesty.

Anyway Boo Boo what p*ssed me off was you took a simple comment about Captain Beefheart as an oppurtunity to call me a liar because in another thread unrelated to this one I took a few potshots at RATM.

Just admit that you want to turn this into the RATM forum and have done with it. You seem to like dragging them up.

Again, political motives mean **** compared to the causes, not to mention they got signed almost after they started, which would explain why they didn't participate in political events prior to sony, THERE WASN'T ENOUGH TIME. They were just lucky.

Again, I'll have to repeat it for you, motives mean absolutely nothing if you're benefiting a good cause. Just as long as its not world domination or causing harm to others.

For example, as Sean Hannity and any right wing nut will tell you, Al Gore is a downright hypocrite when it comes to how he personally treats the environment (private jets, electric consuming householRAB, zinc mines, etc) and he's STILL the best choice we f*cking have for president. I'd vote for him, I don't care that he's a hypocrite, he benefits good causes, and he would be a good president, thats what matters to me.

RATM however are not hypocrites.

So you admit to your ignorance, fantastic, we have ourselves a breakthrough.

Indeed its about the music, but you havent talked jacksh*t about the music, you used their alledged hypocrisy as justification for calling them a crap band.

I don't get where you come up with the "second hand Helmet riRAB" bid, you pulled that one completely out of your bum? I like Helmet, but I don't hear many similarities, and even if I did, having f*cking influences dosen't make them a bad band, nor does a whiney singer. Speaking of which, a Sex Pistols, Cure, Smiths and Joy Division fan complaining about whiney singers has LOLRONY written all over it.

DepenRAB what their contract obligations are.If you sign a 3 album deal & you've got only 2 albums worth of material worth recording it can get a bit of a problem.I try and ELP you out , what I am talking about.
